So the crank was pulled and all bearing surfaces were inspected and found to be good? Just wondering. I feel your pain man! Hope it's just the pump and nothing got hurt.

Maybe I missed it, but what was done about all the metal from the wiped Crane cam? That stuff will get everywhere quick.

    1964 Plymouth Sport Fury $3900

I think he sold it today. I'll check tomorrow. I've had about 6 or 7 '64-65 B-Bodies and this one isn't too hateful. It wasn't kept in a plastic bag on the shelf but for that kind of $ it's a deal. I was born in Santa Monica but I feel like a rust bucket......

    360 magnum or 440??

I was looking at the Show Your Big Block thread and it struck me that they really have a certain "awesomeness" about them. And I want that!!!! Visually it's kinda like a well endowed woman. No explanation about "well, it's a stroker ya see, with 408 cubic inches and........." is necessary. Ya...

    Marine 340s

I had a Century ski boat with a 340 about 25 years ago. I think it was a 74? It was a counter rotation V-drive. Ran very strong! Generally speaking Marine stuff is extra stout.

Glowing red #4&6 exhaust header pipes

I'd pull the plugs and take a look. What intake are you running? Percys has a neat dial-a-jet deal that lets you basically do away with the pick-a-jet game and just fatten/lean your carb reall easy. Supposed to work awesome. Me likey! Good Luck http://www.summitracing.com/parts/PHP-15001/

    500 hp from a 69 440?

The '69 heads are most likely 906 castings with 2.08 intake and 1.74 exhaust valves. They do not have hardened seats. They are very similar to the 73 heads as they both are open chamber. Not the greatest/easiest way to get to 500hp. I would just use the 73 heads (346 castings probably, but it...

    rockers

LA blocks oil through the head, not up the lifter/pushrod to the rocker arm like a Magnum block. Take a look at Comp Cams #7821-16 pushrods. These should work with the 273 rockers and the hydraulic cam. Good Luck http://www.compcams.com/technical/Catalogs/106-07/250-251.pdf

I should have said " Dodge Ram Trucks, for instance" instead of how I phrased it. I've been in the car business for 28 years now and own and have owned several car dealerships. We( my team of mechanics) have reconditioned (read "fixed") plenty of vehicles ( thousands) and have seen lots of...
