    Tesla motors

Algae based fuels. Probably wouldn't be cheaper than gas is today, but we'd have a homegrown never ending supply.

    Non mopar related question

Simple enough problem. The temp sensor wasn't working correctly, the computer told the "some of the fuel injectors to shut off" to try and keep the engine cool. He replace the sending unit and all is well. Did a radiator flush, changed the sender and top hose, $99. I would have never thought of...

fixing stripped carb bolt hole on intake

It had to be special ordered, it's an odd ball thread. I don't need it as there will be no more Holley carbs anywhere in my future!!!

When I called the mechanic....he said after hearing what car it was...."oh, you have one of those that actually runs" and he chuckled.

fixing stripped carb bolt hole on intake

I've got a heli coil (NAPA branded) set for the Holley fuel bowl screws....no need to ask why I bought the set...that would just be mean. Moral of the story is without the little gasket that goes on the screw...the screw can bottom out and cause agony. Anyone need a slightly used heli-coil set...

    Non mopar related question

The water pump...well....I had to put it on twice. The first time, one hole on the pump was a 1/4 off from the original pump. Took it back and the guy at Shucks was bewildered as I was. Second one went on fine. I always draw a diagram and number everything that comes off but that doesn't mean I...

    It's the 3.0 V6. Doesn't sound like pinging, more a knocking sound.

fixing stripped carb bolt hole on intake

Heli-coils were used in every threaded hole when I built satellites at JPL. I know rocket scientists tend to over think everything....but they do make the threaded holes in aluminum a lot stronger...especially for those who drink multiple red bulls while bolting down their carbs....make sure to...

    Non mopar related question

My daughter bought a 1993 Ford Taurus. We had looked at it and I suggest she not buy it. While at work, the lady called and said she had a couple of interested parties but because my daughter was young...long story short, her and her mom went and bought it. Day 3 of ownership, the water pump...

which one of these straight filters works with headers?

What made my life easier, besides using the short NAPA filter, was to add a Lokar flexible dipstick tube. It made pulling the filter out around the headers less painless and messy task.

    First time cam install questions

Get a pushrod length check thingie; sorry can't remember the real name. On mine, I have to go .060 longer than the Mopar Performance conversion pushrods to get the proper preload.

    440 hemi?

I don't like to brag...but...I put one of the Stage V hemi heads on a 2L motor out of a Neon into a '64 Rambler station wagon. Dang, she was powerful. I blew up to 1,500 horsepower rated dyno's here in town before she revved to 2500 RPM's. The Dept. of Transportation refused to register...

LA valve covers on Magnum heads?

My best advice is to put some gasket sealer in the corners, especially those the the exhaust side if the head. It seemed like the gasket (for a lack of a better word) twists in those corners. As I understand it, they are a little different than the LA heads. I also used studs and nuts to hold...

Having issues with my car starting right up every time

Phenolic or plastic spacer between the carb and manifold. That help with mine although it was a Holley and not a TQ.

    WIW-273 HiPo valve covers

A couple of years ago, Mopars at the Strip, one guy wanted $300 for a pair of em. When I was looking, I would have jumped at $110.

    Magnum 360 Head Gaskets

I believe you can use the Mopar point oh twentysomething thick head gaskets (thinking .024 compressed thickness), they were under $40 a couple of years ago. Not sure on the bore diameter.

    alternator

I put the same alternator on mine and the results were the same. The only complaint I have with it is there is no beat for me to tap with my left foot when the headlights and the turn signal is on....

    What would you have paid???

Find a plating shop and have it pickled (and oiled if you're not going to paint or plate it right away). I've seen metal worse than that come out looking nice with that process.

Check out My old water pump

Discoloration in a broken metal piece, when different from the rest, generally indicates it has been breaking for some time, but the yellow, I can't explain. Maybe that new space aged Chinese-Indian aluminum alloy?

    67 Dart 270 for sale

Yes, I have the title for it. No, I've never had it to the track, but I have stretched the rural speed limits out here a few times. I believe it's a comp 270 with .480 lift (.501 with the magnum rockers). The car would definitely benefit from a 2400 stall convertor. My daughter had wanted to...

    383 true or false

Lots of "dubious" comments in his story. I think the 12k point is a dead giveaway that he is at minimum exaggerating. 135mph is obtainable with any engine and the right gearing. I think you chalk it up to as a "fable" and tell it at parties and laugh with your friends.
