Hood alignment woes stripped bolt in hood

I repaired it with a heli coil like the members suggested above. It was the nut inside the hood for the mounting bolts.

Hood alignment woes stripped bolt in hood

Thank you everyone I Heli-coiled the hole today. I still have no clue how the heck I overtightened it enough to strip the threads inside the hood. Oh well done and over with. Luckilly I had a heli-coil in my tool box and tap for 3/8-16 hole mentioned above, left over from fixing a mustang...

Hood alignment woes stripped bolt in hood

After re installing the hood on my 70 swinger I have had issues trying to get the alignment correct. I got to the point where the passenger side looks very good but have been fighting the driver side. The alignment side to side looks good but I couldn't seem to get my height correct. I have...

A/C with aftermarket heads and intake

Thanks for the info. I'm kinda leaning in that direction. The only difference with all the research I've been doing, I might go with the serpentine belt setup. Its a little pricey but better value than the March pully setup,. Did you buy everything directly from them? What alternator and...

A/C with aftermarket heads and intake

340doc- 12 HP that's quite a bit. Motor has 502 at the crank so im sure I wont miss 12hp but what exactly is a sanden type compressor? Off a later dart? dodgeddifferent2- I will have to look into the classic auto air kit. Don't sound too bad with what you have going on.

A/C with aftermarket heads and intake

Has anyone had any issues running factory A/C on the A body cars with aftermarket heads and intake? I have procomp heads and airgap intake. Debating if its worth adding everything or bypassing the A/C. thanks

    Engine install questions

Install went great. Bolted up trans outside of the car. Installed in 1 piece and lowered it onto the headers. Installed the starter while headers were loose. Some pics show starter but I pulled it off before it was lowered down and reinstalled it. My only issue I noticed was how the motor sat in...

Engine mounts in correct location to k frame 70 swinger

There were only nubs on the bracket side of the mounts. I did try loosing the brackets but not much wiggle room. Looking at these header install instructions my measurements are identical to the posted specs.

Engine mounts in correct location to k frame 70 swinger

Thanks just bolted everything up. I may be too anal on setting it up but just trying to make sure everything is done correctly. Does being off a small amount matter at all? I don't know, Im sure there are a bunch of guys that drop them in, bolt them up and go. I was able get it almost...

Engine mounts in correct location to k frame 70 swinger

Excellent thanks. Id imagine its best to level front to rear on at the door sills and side to side on the cowl and core support? I could not find any instructions from Schumacher on leveling the engine, not sure if they were sent with the mounts.

Engine mounts in correct location to k frame 70 swinger

Quick question. Just installed the motor in my 70 swinger. Looking at the motor mount holes the drive driver side is bottomed out and passenger side is approximetly 1/2" from bottoming out to the k member. If assume they should be both at the bottom of the grooves on the k member correct? Or is...

    motor mount brackets and bolts

Yes being the spool mount might make a difference. Inertia thanks for the link. The photos johnny dart posted show my exact issue. Wish I new sooner guess the motor wont drop in this weekend. motor mount brackets and bolts

I just got home and look. It appears originally my 318 had four mounting bolts on the passenger side and the 360 only has casting on the block for 3 mounting bolts. On the driver side I originally had 3 bolts on the 318 but the rear mounting location is way off when lining up the front holes...

    motor mount brackets and bolts

I just pulled off my motor mount bracket off my 70 dart 318 and threw them in the ultrasonic cleaner before work. I planed on using them on my 408 stroker (360) block. My buddy just told me the 340/360 driver side bracket might be different from the 318, is that correct? Also what size and...

Issues Bleeding 70 dart with Kelsey Hayes brakes

Garys72Duster- Thank you I think I have it figured out. Depending on when my 70 was built dictates whether it gets the combination valve or the distribution block and the proportioning valve. I'm going to just rebuild my stock distribution block since I have all the line setup for the small...

Issues Bleeding 70 dart with Kelsey Hayes brakes

Thanks for everything you posted. Reading the links you posted it states DO NOT to use the combination valve with the additional proportioning valve because it can limit the braking power more than needed to the rear wheels. I may just use my original distribution block with the texas shaped...

Issues Bleeding 70 dart with Kelsey Hayes brakes

Exactly the safety switch block isn't allowing fluid through. I purchased it several years ago when rounding up parts for my build and just finally installed it. And yes I do have the Texas shaped valve also but cant get fluid that far lol. Ill call inline tube tomorrow they have my name on...

Issues Bleeding 70 dart with Kelsey Hayes brakes

Thanks my original one was drum/drum setup. My rear flexible line is new, and when unscrewing my new steel lines outgoing from the main distribution block I have no pressure to the rear so its definitely stopping there.

Issues Bleeding 70 dart with Kelsey Hayes brakes

I could be wrong but from the research I did, the 68-72 disc cars were suppose to have a distribution block and a proportioning valve. So this is exactly what I bought 1968-72 Mopar A, B, E Body 1968-70 AMC, AMX Javelin, Rear Hold Off Valve Disc Brakes and 1969-1974 Mopar A-Body Distribution...

Issues Bleeding 70 dart with Kelsey Hayes brakes

Like the title states im having trouble bleeding the brakes on my 70 swinger. I originally had drum/drum and swapped to the Kelsey hayes setup off a 69. My calipers are new, all new brake lines, new distribution block and proportioning valve from inline tube and brand new raybestos master...

    Engine install questions

This will be my first engine/trans install. I'm working on my 70 swinger currently waiting on new ARP bell housing/flex plate bolts. Once they arrive I plan on installing the smallblock engine/transmission in one piece, in the next couple weeks when I get some free time. I am probably over...

Anyone have a source for the pushrod seal or o ring? Im installing Kelsey hayes brakes on my 70 swinger. Installing new convertor on 904 fill before ? valvoline dex/merc fluid?

Just a couple quick questions. Im getting ready to install my new convertor to the trans when my arp bolts get here. After a little reading is 1qt in the convertor adequate to fill before install? I see a lot of people claiming to use Dexron Type III I don't see too many fluids that are only...
