I was just checking to make sure it wasn't another overpriced aftermarket part. airflow and filtering > convenience easily.

More than likely correct. My original cap and air cleaner can had the hose on it. Something to do with reclaiming exhaust fumes, early smogging in process. Mine were painted black, and the cap also has the word oil on it.

Thanks for the replies and info guys. Currently the exterior is in bad condition rust and oxidized paint. I don't have the space for a car shelter, just trying to find something to help slow down the accumulated damage to the car until I can get the real work done.
