Sanderson DD-9 LA Header for Early A's, anyone else have them for Early A's?

I talked to Carlos about a set, he said they can even make a custom set for my W2 heads if I send him a flange or even just a gasket to cut a flange. I know someone posted about a set he had modded, I just wanted to get any more experience feedback if anyone else went (or is thinking about)...

Thank you Sanderson headers - installed on my cuda

I just talked to Carlos, It sounds like they have developed a new part number with the #1 tube mod for early A's, it's Sanderson part number DD9. I think I'm going to have them make me a dd9 for the W2 Flange for my 66 440" /360 wagon

We did the 8.8 ford Explorer with the long side shortened 3" to use 2 short side axles to center the hogs head in my 66 wagon. 3.73 Posi and disc brakes, it's a nice way to go. Running 285 wide 18's and they fit (very close).

How Would You Build This Stroker?

Having built a few of these, I would tend to go for the longer stroke, not necessarily a 4.25( that really depends on whether highest average torque is your priority over peak HP) but something over 4". The reason being you have that tall 9.58" deck height that ( to me ) you might as well try to...

First fire-up of the 440" W2 Stroker small block

Big shout out to Mike, the MRL lifters are awesome in this motor, I really like the larger diameter .815" rollers and particularly the priority oiling to the axles.

360 block A 340 blocks smaller main would leave you with not much if any journal overlap, especially with a 2" Rod journal

I'd have to check but all in I'm at or just a bit under $8k. Probably some horse trading in there somewhere and some recycled parts I already had but the motor is exactly what I wanted.

Hollis Page at www.HPEngines.net Probably not going to dyno it since the W2 headers will be hand built in the car. The puny 1 5/8 LA flange headers would handicap it. I'll probably chassis dyno it and for sure I will 1/4 mile test it. The combo is basically the same high torque Streetwize...

The pick up tube was close but adequate, I don't remember the casting number but I probably have a pic we can get it off of. Yes the lower valve cover bolt holes (all three) are wet, whicheans if you want to set the hot lash..... Gonna try to anchor a shallow set screw i there and hopefully...

Thanks! The heads are really what make this a special build for me, my first set was way back in the late 70's so there's a sentimental nostalgia vibe to this build, they were expensive to bring to life ( rocker gear, special shafts and offset intake cup roller lifters and re-eye rowing the...

The thermal barrier keeps heat in the chamber and allows the head and the motor to run a little cooler, by transferring less exhaust/combustion heat into the coolant. I just visited the Huge Seimens turbine engine plant in Charlotte and noticed all the exhaust fins on the combined cycle...

We'll be building a set of proper W2 flange headers for it The motor is 10:1 with a Bullet custom grind 251/259 @ .050 solid roller with .605 lift and 109 centers. Heads are ported but the runners were not really enlarged very much, 90 percent of the work was in the bowls and transitions with...

Late model mustang wheels on early A's?

I was thinking a cheap and easy upgrade would be the mid 2000's 16" 'Halibrand' style V6 mustang wheels, has anybody run anything similar and are there any offset or suspension clearance issues to be aware of? Here's a quick snapshot of the wheel I have in mind on a mustang Also how wide a...

Any early A fans that can fab headers?

as for the W2 port size, it's probably borderline big for 340" on the street but not for a 440" Stroker small block, the port size is essentially as cast just cleaned up a bit. 90 % of the work to these heads is in the boles and the valve job

Any early A fans that can fab headers?

A standard un ported (just a decent VJ, bowl blending and guide shaping) W2 port on a 340 motor starts pulling really nice at just below 4000 and pulls hard through about 6800. This is a 440 inch small block so proportionally the sweet spot will start coming on as low as 3200 and pull really...

Any early A fans that can fab headers?

Don't really want to run fenderwells but if we need to sneak s couple though that's what we'll do. Stephen will figure out a way to get them in there, the TTI's design seem a bit overly long, torque is not gonna be an issue, lol. A 4-2-1 180 TTI-y with 1 3/4-2 1/4-3.25 would be about ideal...
