My Magnum OBD1 to JTEC OBD2 conversion

Thanks Dan. It has been brought to my attention that two other guys that have done manual trans conversions on a Dakota and Durango originally equipped with the JTEC automatic PCM have run into fuel cut problems. I'm not totally sure of this yet but I believe this stems from the park/neutral...

My Magnum OBD1 to JTEC OBD2 conversion

The data link connector works just fine. I had a couple transmission solenoid codes (not unexpected) a fuel pump relay control code (also not unexpected) a ROM ID code (?, not a big deal) and a couple others I don't recognize. I was able to clear them but since I don't have a MIL I'm not worried...

Any one interested in the oiling mods I did?

All is good thanks. I sold the Scamp and just have 2, I mean, 3 old trucks now so I haven't been around here much.

Any one interested in the oiling mods I did?

As far as the photos go if a mod could move them to the forum server that would be great. It's been long past where I can edit the posts and add the photos myself. They are hosted on picturetrail.com and that account may be going away soon and so will the photos so if anyone could help with that...

My Magnum OBD1 to JTEC OBD2 conversion

I did a lot of searching and didn't really find anyone that has done this without the $1000 Hot Wire Auto harness so here it is. I used the 3 JTEC connectors from a 99 1500 4x4 automatic truck and spliced them into a 93 5.2 Ram Charger harness at the 60 way connector. I didn't change any sensors...

So, I guess I've been away for awhile...

Things are good, now. New job is much farther away though so the commute sucks but the money is good. It just doesn't leave much time for anything else.

Been so busy working, it seems like that's all I do anymore. So what did I miss?

Saab Superbird (aka the plywood Saab)

I used to be a Saab tech back in the mid to late 70's. Interesting cars to say the least, way over engineered if you ask me though. I made good money working on them because the Saab 99 was out then, and believe me, they were always broke and at our doorstep. Did you know Saab makes fighter...

And why in the name of Joseph, Mary and Morgan Shepard would you post it?!?!?!?

Saab Superbird (aka the plywood Saab)

That is awesome! Do you know it it's the German Ford V4 or the Saab 3 cylinder 2 cycle engine powering this incredible machine?

    Oil mods for my 408?

My engine expired from my own miscalculation of compression ratio. It was supposed to be 12.3 to 1 but was in actuality 14.7 to 1 resulting in blowing out a head gasket and then detonating a cylinder to death. The rest of the engines oiling system and bearings still looked great. So I guess the...

solid roller takes another casualty... Lifters

Like your Indy's I have W5's with the offset rockers and unless you are very careful and pay really close attention the pushrods will slip out of the cup easily when putting it together and when setting the lash. It's possible that with just the right harmonics in the valvetrain the pushrod...

    tunnel ram tunning help 408sb

Power valves shouldn't be needed on a tunnel ram although I think you aren't realizing the full potential with those small carbs. 2 660 center squirters or even 2 750 vacuum secondary carbs would be better and would improve the driveability as well.

    any one live in miami

Sorry, I've been to Miami many times and I don't have a problem looking for an excuse to go there but I can't help you out right now. I'm not scheduled to go there any time soon.

I don't know what the problem was. But it's water under the bridge now.

It's very possible Roy. We have 4 pieces of floor in the trunk to finish and they should be pretty easy. If I can work both Saturday and Sunday it should work out. If I have to work at the job then maybe not. We'll try though.

    Internet vs reality

My third wife and I spent the entire Mothers day at the track once, most of it, (about 5 hours worth) waiting for the rain to quit. She was pretty pissed that I wouldn't go home. Well the rain cleared, the track dried and I won that night, she was happy then. lol I sincerly hope your car runs...

Cannot wrap my head around it --limo fire

Limo's are built much like a mobile home. Ever see one of those catch on fire? Takes just a few, and I mean just a few minutes for them to be fully engulfed. Another problem was there was one to many people in it and probably the worst problem, a language barrier between the driver and...

Lets see your car in action!

Thanks, I got a call yesterday afternoon that I'm clear to hire, driving record, background checks, blah, blah. Dropping my tools off this morning and start Monday. BTW, I like your car too, love the post cars and the grille. lol

Lets see your car in action!

See that's how crap starts, I never said anyone was stupid. Just because you don't know something it doesn't make you stupid. I win plenty of races, always been in the top ten at the track (usually in top three) every points series I raced, been track champion as well. This isn't an I'm...

Lets see your car in action!

Actually I didn't start bashing Lisa at all, she started on me and many other people there. There was a discussion about quench and piston to head clearance where I stated that I was running an engine with .027 piston to head clearance without issues for over 15 years and even after the heads...

Lets see your car in action!

So you tried 4 sets of tires before you realized it wasn't the tires? Really? Ladder bars just hit the tires too hard, that's why almost every ladder bar car is yanking the front wheels in the air 4 feet or more. 4 links are the way to go, infinate adjustability, oh I forgot, you intentially...

Two jobs are 35 miles one way, not terrible but the traffic is really bad. Both of these jobs pay well and they have plenty of work. One other job I'm considering is less money and 30 miles one way. Not as busy but traffic isn't so bad. I've been driving 20 miles one way. Thanks guys for the...

Thanks guys, I have 5 offers already but all of them are farther than I want to drive, but what are you going to do. I wouldn't have been upset if I wasn't lied to, right to my freekin face by the new owner. I made them give me a signed receipt that they received all my uniforms and shop keys...

So our dealership was sold to another group (it's a Hyundai dealer). We had interviews and drug tests where everything was fine, they wanted to keep everybody, they took over this Monday. So they make phone calls and offer a job to almost everyone except me and my younger son, this past...

    Internet vs reality

And there you have it folks. The problem with DDC was he asks for help then totally ignores the very informed help he gets. He is deservedly proud of what he has accomplished with his own two hands but dare I say, if he had that attitude outside of a union context he wouldn't have a job...
