    1965 Valiant LS Build

Looking nice. I seriously considered a 2.3 turbo Ford to replace the slant in my Dart. Decided to stick with what I already know and going 440, with turbos of course

Big block, early a transmission mount

Thanks. My original which has 2 studs measures 3 1/4”. The new one is 3 1/2”. Going to modify the crossmember for exhaust, so I might as well modify it for a readily available mount as well.

Big block, early a transmission mount

It’s a cheap one from O’Reilly. Number on part matches what it’s supposed to be. (B2272) Application according to their website is correct, (it covers about every a,b,c,e body from 63-72). I ordered it for my make model engine. I have to be missing something, problem is, the pic you took shows...

Big block, early a transmission mount

Its none of that, just the rubber mount too tall. The new one made it worse. Thanks for the help and pics.

Big block, early a transmission mount

The old one was too tall

Big block, early a transmission mount

Well the new one is taller yet. Looks like I’m cutting and welding, I don’t have time for this crap

Big block, early a transmission mount

Lol. I was planning on someone here helping to work me through it!

Big block, early a transmission mount

I will definitely try. Maybe the group will like a build thread. I started one with my slant turbo build but forgot to update it

Big block, early a transmission mount

It is a great place. I usually don’t need to post, many, many questions are already answered here.

Big block, early a transmission mount

Are those studs and nuts oem or did you do that? I like it

Big block, early a transmission mount

Thank you thank you thank you! That pretty much answers it. Whether it’s the correct mount or not doesn’t matter, something isn’t right with it. Thanks for not letting me do something stupid and start cutting and welding. I knew in my heart it shouldn’t have been an issue.

Big block, early a transmission mount

Thanks for looking! I think thats what i need to hear. It's definitely seated. I just pulled the slant so I can only assume it is correct and pretty sure its original. Starting to think maybe it is swelled and the slant tailshaft was probably pushed up against. I guess my next step is to get a...

Big block, early a transmission mount

So an inch was a bit of an exaggeration, but it’s a hole off. There is a piece of rubber above that would allow it to line up but still closer than I thought it should be. No oddball stuff. Maybe the rubber mount is swelled up? Best I can do for pics right now

Big block, early a transmission mount

440/727. Elephant ears from the scamp that I narrowed to fit. Stock 65 crossmember/mount. Fore/aft no issue (haven’t made mountng tabs yet). I expected it to work fine, but the crossmember is an inch away from lining up and that’s with the tailshaft touching the upper crossmember. Comparing the...

Big block, early a transmission mount

When I put a 440 in my scamp I used the slant 6 transmission crossmember/mount with no issue or mods. Now I’m mocking up a 440 in my 65. I have the tunnel clearanced but I can have the tail shaft touching the upper crossmember and the mount holes are about an inch from lining up. Just curious...

    Turbo wagon

    I don’t think so, not for a 200hp slant

    Turbo wagon

The cold slowed me down a little, but I’m closer. Everything is welded (exhaust from firewall isn’t started) made some pipe brackets, put on new throttle and kickdown cables and new fuel line/filter.

    Turbo wagon

Yup, thats it. I think it should work pretty well.

    Turbo wagon

Only basic mph, plug readings and O2 in the Downpipe. Was going 136-139 mph at 3400 with a basic 440 edelbrock heads. Usually ran it pretty fat so might’ve covered up some issues, but never saw a plug that was alarming. I have heard some say that they start having issues above 800

    Turbo wagon

I’ve used it on a few combinations, from approximately 500 hp to about 750, worked great. I don’t expect any different here.

Can anyone guess what this is about?

Have some more stuff mocked up and tacked. Barely fits under the hood.

Holley 350 2 barrel. I've done a few blowthrough setups.

    Turbo wagon

Coming along pretty good. Don't zoom in on my welds, I'm more of a grinder than a welder.

    Thanks, I've done a few.

    Turbo wagon

Going to try and get more involved here so thought I'd share my winter upgrade. Throwing a little turbo on the stock 225. It's a GT2871, blow through with the holley 350 two barrel. Not trying to make a bunch of power, just want to have a little extra torque. Going to try boost referencing the...

    Wagon sheet metal.

Nice. I almost did this on my dart wagon just for the low wheel arches, but they were in good shape except for behind the left tire. Couldn't justify doing a full 1/4's on both sides just for a cosmetic change.
