64 65 66 Barracuda Rear Window Defroster Setup

Man, rare as hen's teeth. I kept my eye open for one of those for years and never saw one.

shoulder belts for Daughters 65 Barracuda

I wired in a six-inch wide low profile LED 3rd brake light on my '64 Barracuda. I used a piece of aluminum, bent into a crushed "S" shape, with some adhesive to affix it into/around the rear window seal. It was mounted on the inside, facing back--essentially where I think a "stock" light would...

Early A A/C how well does it work

Not that it is very relevant to the discussion, but as I recall the early-A Barracuda had one of the first flow-through ventilation systems, using the vents at the rear base of the back glass as the 'exit'.

Possibly the ugliest Barracuda I have ever draged home, But it is so cool!

I'd love to see that paint after a good proper clean up, polish and wax. One of the colors I don't think I've ever seen on a Barracuda in person.

lets see some notch cuda pics

I'm just going to sit here and drool on my keyboard. I was always an early-A cuda fan personally, but I would love to get my hands on a nice example of the 2nd generation.

    Barracuda quarter glass

You can access the mounting bolts through holes in the inner body wall. You might have to run the window up/down to get access to the bolts. I last did that in about 1992. I was a sophomore in high school...replaced the window on my own. As I recall, you take out the rear seat back strap...

    Shift Cable Repair

So I'm not the only person who had to figure out a way to repair those shift cables...I remember using some sort of silicone, fuel hose, and clamps. I had the tranny rebuilt, and when it was put back in the cables were left unsecured and contacted the exhaust. It's been fifteen or so years...

    Oil pressure too high?

I had that happen once. Electric gauge, I don't remember exactly what was happening at the sending unit but it either had a bad connection or it was grounding out. Whatever it was, I was expecting my oil pump to self destruct or other bad things to happen because it suddenly looked like my...

I would pull a couple of plugs after a no-start condition and examine them.

    speakers for a 'cuda(early A BODY)

I had a set of RadioShack speakers that looked almost exactly like the OP's setup, except mounted horizontally instead of vertically. Sounded great.

What is this and do I need it?!?

Wait...you plugged the vacuum advance? You mean just for setting the timing, right?

    What aftermarket 4bbl intakes fit a 65 273

I would think it would be a fairly cheap operation to have a machinist fill and re-drill the holes to line up with the early heads.

    Really nice 63 Valiant

Wow, low-rust, nice condition... My mind immediately did a good several-step polish and wax job on it and I think it will look almost new.

Tranny Fluid Everywhere - The Horror...

I had an issue on my '64...a guy rebuilt the transmission for me, and forgot to secure the cables. One touched exhaust...it was a mess. I took some fuel line and some sort of sealant (I do not recall what kind for sure), split the fuel line lengthwise, wiped down the cable housing with...

how do i tell if my engine is

In that last picture, on the left side...what is the "D N" with the little dial indicator cast under it pointing to the "D"?

Rtv Sealant or not ?? Oil filter adapter

If I recall correctly, I cleaned the mounting surfaces well with something like carb cleaner, then used plain old gasket adhesive. It never leaked again.

    BUILDSHEET! I found mine!!!!

I found mine under the back seat of my '64 Barracuda. It was in about 25 pieces, ranging in size from 4x6 to half a dime. I carefully mounted each piece on white card stock and scanned them. Then I pieced them together in an image editing program to reproduce the sheet. In the end, it is...

How to make an engine pallet/crate?

See the wrecked Mopars thread for pics of my '64. Since the wreck, it's been in storage, and I've slowly been pulling parts off. The roof, hood, fenders, and damaged trim are all gone. I'm going to keep the engine, transmission, and some associated parts for a "hopeful" future build, and sell...

    1st Gen Barracuda ?

I am impressed--this thread has the first really new things I've learned about the early A-body barracudas in...probably fifteen years. Very informative! Now I'm going to have to catalog and preserve all of those special 1964-only bits and pieces I have lying around.

Iam having trouble with my 273 v/8 and a push button tranmission

On my 273 I can reach down behind the radiator, grab ahold of the vibration dampener, and turn the engine over by hand. You should at least be able to get it to rotate a little bit one direction or the other. If I recall correctly the engine will crank in "N" whether the park lever is down or not.

    I bought a 64 barracuda today

Oh, that poor Barracuda. She was the twin to mine...white, gold interior, 273, auto.

How to make an engine pallet/crate?

I'm pulling the engine and transmission from my '64 and I would like to store the engine so that I can rebuild it later. The remainder of the car, aside from parts that are sellable, will be junked. (It was in a bad rollover wreck.) Have any of you ever built a pallet/crate for an LA...

    Wrecked Mopar cars by members

Here's my '64.5 Barracuda in good times: And after a deer-caused rollover accident on the highway: My then-girlfriend and I were driving down the highway at about 70 mph when my headlamps illuminated a string of deer across the highway. I swerved...but the roads were lightly...

MP Electronig Ignition Converion '66 Dart

caveman, nice to see that your installation and mine would match...I installed the electronic ignition kit in my '64 back in about 1996, to replace a worn distributor...ran so much better it was amazing. Looking at where you have your electronics box, it's as if we used a template.

Let's see your 1st generation barracuda

So much beautiful Mopar in this thread... Makes me miss driving my '64 all the more.

any of those gas savers work for anyone on here?

One thing boosted the fuel economy of my '64 273 Barracuda quite a bit (about 30%). The Mopar Performance electronic ignition kit. But then my old distributor was getting pretty worn and wouldn't maintain a consistent dwell.
