    Only overheating on the freeway.

I wouldn't rule out worn water pump impellers or an impeller loose on the shaft. Either one could cause inadequate flow at road speed but might still be OK for idling. I've seen that cause this issue before.

    Damsel in distress

Mollysmom64, please ask the person that is coming over to check out your car to post what (he or she) finds. No offense intended, but they may be able to better describe the condition. There are a lot of good folks on this site that really would like to help you figure out what's going on...

A 100 Dodge Van White Smoke

White 'smoke' usually indicates water vapor caused by blown head gasket but could be more serious. Could be water is entering a combustion chamber via a crack.

How to crank engine by hand

Ya, I'm used to working with cars with automatics and when I tried to turn my son's Roadrunner motor by hand I had a hell of a time budging it before I remembered it was hooked to a 4-speed.

How to crank engine by hand

If it's got a manual transmission you'll have to take it out of gear.

    electric fan?

Every vehicle is going to be different. There are too many variables. I chose to go with an aftermarket fan. I figured by the time I tried to retrofit a fan from another car onto mine, I wouldn't save any $$ over buying a new one. You may want to push the air instead of pulling it through...

    Babe Erson Camshafts?

I'd heard of Sig Erson cams. - Doing a Google search I found out that Sig's brother was named Babe. They had a cam company in Anaheim, California.

New best slant six 1/4 mile

I gotta build me a slant!

    Why the /6

If I ever get finished with my (in-process) projects I seriously want to build a six now.

    Why the /6

I'd be on it like stink on %&# if I was closer.

    Why the /6

I don't know. I thought that 160 responses was pretty good (it actually says 192 responses when I looked). This thread has also had 4930 views. I would think that a lot of formerly disinterested in slant folks (like myself) have reached a new level of respect for the 6 banger after reading...

    pcv valve help

You could have someone machine a round flat area on the opposite side of that Offy emblem and then drill a hole in the center of it. It could be accomplished with a dremel tool also. I used a dremel tool to modify a pair of M/T finned valve covers. I needed to accommodate some vintage M/T...

    Manifold heat valve

I don't want to hijack this thread, but I've got a couple of related questions. My son's '70 Roadrunner has an exhaust leak through the exhaust manifold heat valve's pivot. It's enough to leave tell tale exhaust dirt on the inner fenderwell and you can hear it (though it's not loud). My...

    Why the /6

Sometimes some of the best sources to find information is from someone that has newly learned the stuff themselves. They tend not to leave out as many details as some of the guys that know stuff like the back of their hand. - Probably because it was a bigger struggle to get those things...

    Why the /6

I keep seeing this picture in my mind of some big block bowtie youngster returning home dejected, - knowing that he'd just been spanked by a guy in his seventies driving a slant 6 four door. - Priceless! ](*,) :toothy8::thumbrig:

    Why the /6

That car of yours never ceases to make me drop my jaw. It still kills me that you did all this to a four door. Years ago my buddies and I used to speculate on what would be the ultimate sleeper. I think you may be building it now.

    Why the /6

I've always been someone that was impressed by mega-horsepower. After reading about some of the slant 6s that have been built on this thread it makes me want to build one. I'd love to have a slanty that is scary fast. You guys with those motors must really get a kick out of seeing the...

dip stick blowin out with oil????

Is this a new build? If not, has anything been changed or modified on the motor? Do you have an oil pressure gauge? If so, how much pressure is it running? The previous suggestions of things to check are most likely going to solve this riddle. But, what about the oil pump? Any possibility...
