I run a LD340 on my small block stroker but I bought that manifold decades back when they were cheap. Wanted to go with RPM intake when I built stroker but Shady Dell said wouldn't see any improvement. Ppl been posting up a lot of newer Edelbrock castings are sloppy these days.

I ran an Edelbrock 650 AVS when I had my stock 340 in my car. Had to jet it up fool around with secondary air door spring ect. Once I got it tuned was really happy with it great performance. I drained the fuel out of it when I pulled the 340 and its sitting in a box now.

That thick gasket will help with fuel percolation / fuel boil over which happens with todays fuels.

Pretty sure Performer has the smaller ports like 318 heads. Performer RPM and RPM Air Gap have the 340 360 ports. Dual plane RPM gonna help low end torque compared to sit gle plane. And RPM not giving up much up top compared to Torquer on a mild engine.

I had to open my secondaries a bit to get rid of my rich idle problem. This was on a new out of the box Holly 750 double pumper. Brian at Indio Motor Machines who had my cam ground told me to do so. Works great. Just open it up enough to lean it out not too much.

I put a Carter AVS fitting into the Edelbrock AVS carb and didn't have any problems.

Fuel is formulated differently in different parts of the country. Hear in Maryland percolation is very problematic. I say block off heat and get the eddie heat insulator gasket and do it right the first time instead of mickey mousing around with it....

The eddie carbs tend to run real lean out of the box at least that is my experience. I ran an Eddie 650 AVS on my stock 340 when it was in my car and once I jetted that carb up and put bigger excellerator nozzles on it it ran great.

Just let it vent out.

Like said above the owners manual should tell you what jet/rod combo to run to get it richer in any one area of the power band. Some times just switch rods won't do it.

Flimsy rubber fuel line between metal line and fuel pump or between metal line and tank gettting sucked shut?

As far as I know that bracket is not being reproduced. Used will be your only option but all the '68 and up a-bodies had the same bracket.
