i was having carb problems also the way i knew it was carb problem- i have 2- carbs , i put a clean rag over 1 of them and it idle fine, my carbs got plugged up with debris. they rag mad it run rich where it needed to be. maybe try a rag over 1 side of the carb. it worked for me.

if it driven on the street a couple times a week it a nice build . torque gets the car rollin or burning the tires, later you could do like guitar jones says is change to more aggressive cam/convertor, victor intake, bigger carb, it will run 10s with traction.

man that thing runs even with the 3.23s, that thing will really set you in your set with the right gears!!

3.23 gears , i could see 3.73s with that big motor.either way motor sounds very nasty.

i dont think your going to notice that its soft below 3000 rpm if you have a 4000-5000 stall.all i know is i have a 263/267@o.50 in my 418, when you nail it ,it rips!lots of torque. 4.10 gear.

is the oiling problem that it doesnt pump oil up thru the push-rods?

my 418 likes my 4.10 with 28 tall , i say 4.30 at most with a 28 tall, it pulls hard , i think you would be way over-gearing it, use the tork . dont use it up.... by over-gearing it ... my 2 cents
