Have to disagree here, again. How is putting 40-80 psi in air shocks to level heavy weight and putting 40-80psi in them to raise the rear different? You're putting the same stress on the upper mounts in both cases.

I've installed several sets of these, and never had to use special shock bolts. Are you putting the thick spacer washer on the top bolt first, then the shock, then the thin washer? maybe your gas tank has moved a bit?

How much are those? I bet you could get a pair of air shocks for less. This whole "top shock mounts blowing out" is a non-starter with me. I've had air shocks on several vehicles since the 70's, and never blew out the top shock mounts. I don't put 150 psi into them either....maybe 30. If you...

Back with my unpopular opinion...I have Gabriel Airs on my Dart to get an inch or 2 of lift...40lbs air...they ride just fine.

I wrapped a nice soft terry-cloth towel around the column to protect from scratching. I removed the column with the firewall plate attached...leaves a bigger hole.

Whats the correct way to install the front retention nuts on the strut rods....bevel in toward the washer, or bevel out, away from the washer? Pic for illustration purposes.

Back then these cars were in the wrecking yard, so parts were readily available....not so much any more.

Thanks Russ. I'd appreciate if you'd have a look through your stuff. The lower plastic bushing looks like this....and has an inner diameter (where the stock bearing sits) of 37mm. If there was a bearing that would fit here, that would solve the problem as well.
