These drums worked fine on my 67 7 1/4 without any modification at all. Why would they have to be modified now?

Anyone heard that the new Centric SBP brake drums "lock up" the rear end when tightened down? I was talking with a gent on the FB "Early Valiant and Barracuda "page. He has a problem of new Centric SBP brake drums "locking against the backing plate when tightened down" on his '65 Barracuda's...

Could you redrill those rotors to 4"?

You say you've replaced the axles???? If you replaced them with big bolt pattern (4.5 BC), I think the drums are going to be a different width?(....B-Body perhaps?)

Well, I never reuse old brake hardware, and since the rest was new, I put all brand new hardware on my 8.75, other than drums, so I didn't know that.

Why do you disagree? I just did this swap, and my old 7.25 drums fit my new 8.75 rear end perfectly. backing plates did not swap.

Drums swap....and lug nuts...other than that, not much.

Yes. They also fit those years 8 3/4 with 10"x 1.75 brakes.

If I'm not mistaken, the 5 hole backing plates will have a larger center hole, and the bolt holes themselves will be in a different place. I think when the 7 1/4" went LBP in '72/'73? they also went to the 5 hole configuration....I stand to be corrected here. I run out of talent post '70/'71...

I'm sure you can use almost any year 10" backing plates up to about '72? The shoes should be 1.75 wide, same as 8.75 small bolt pattern. Drums are the same too.

...and if all that fails, Ehrenberg sells a complete set on EBay for $39, I believe.
