    Tach reading high

. Steve, I've sorta been following along. I haven't driven my car in a couple weeks. Out of town for work and way too hot. So, today I get in, fire it up and the damn tach is reading high :BangHead:. It shows idle around 2K when I know for a fact it's not over 800. On my drive I had it...

I just watched your videos. Sure does seem like the can is putting in mega amount of advance.

    Initial timing

Steve, Usually, Vacuum Advance is not "figured" in on Total Timing. Generally, we look for something around 34⁰ Total without vacuum advance. We set timing with vacuum advance disconnected. Most folks set Total and let Initial fall wherever it lands. Initial + Mech = Total Or Total -...

    Initial timing

My 5.9 likes a ton of initial also. Funny, I was just working on my timing today. I set it back to 20 and I'll see how the plugs look after some drive time. The plugs definitely showed too much timing at 30. It got me to thinking about accuracy of the timing light and I found this thread. No...

    Flickering Lights

Where are pulleys measured? Is it the diameter of the entire pulley or is it the bottom of the "V" slot?

    Flickering Lights

Good thinking!! I still have the original braided ground from head to firewall, but added 3 additional grounds for good measure. One from battery to core support, one from instrument panel to dash, and one from fuel sending unit to frame.

    Question about fuel gauge wiring.

Search for a wiring diagram for your car. Mymopar.com had them but they recently revamped the site and I haven't been on much since. I don't know about the 73, perhaps there is a trace on the circuit board that connects when you cinch down the nut. That's how the 66 fuel gauge gets power...
