The Doug's I bought for my 66 Barracuda are the slip joint/flange type. I had to pull the steering column and the driver's side torsion bar before and replace after installing the headers. Oh yeah...and a few good dents still to clear power steering coupler and torsion bar. It's tight in there!

I put Doug's on my 66 Barracuda. Got a Black Friday discount and still spent $750. Passenger side no problem. Driver's side with power steering a PITA. Have to pull the column and the torsion bar. Still had to dent for the steering coupler and torsion bar. Tried painting first...lasted...

Thanks, I'll check that out. I swapped in a warmed up 5.9 and kept the Dynomax muffles now running through Doug's headers. Super happy the sound out the tail pipes!

I changed from Flowmaster 40's to Dynomax Super Turbo's. Very happy with them. Not too loud, but enough to hear the engine. When ordering, you have to look at where you need to inlet and outlet holes, and the size of the inlet and outlet. Our cars don't have a lot of room so it's important...

I have Dynomax Super Turbo's also. Really good flow through design. But, for loud, especially when decelerating go with Flowmaster Series 40's. They are restrictive which causes the sound. Vroom!!!

I run a Pertronix Igniter II and Gap plugs at .040. You'll be fine running RC12YC. That's the plug I use.

Not sure if small block and big block Edelbrock heads are the same but the small block heads require 5/8" hex. The spark plug recess is only big enough for a 5/8" hex. What plugs are you using?

Can you cobble just enough together to drive it to the exhaust shop? Then they can remove it and build it right. That was my plan after my recent Magnum swap but I'm happy with how my cobble turned out!! I just need to add one more hanger on each side.

I like seeing muscle car owners in Europe! I can imagine how difficult it is getting parts. I was stationed in England 1987-1990 and only saw two American muscle cars. A Camero and a Nova. I'm sure you get a lot of looks when you drive your Mopar!!

Kim, I have Dynamax Super Turbos on my 5.9 powered Barracuda with Doug's headers. I like them. Much quieter than the Flowmaster 40's. Deeper sound.

Happy with the Doug's for my 66 Barracuda. No problems with fit. I ended up wrapping them to keep heat away from wires. I pulled the driver's side off to remove the steering gear for a rebuild.

Joe, glad the H pipe worked for you. I run 2.5" exhaust with an H-pipe on my 273 Commando, 3:55 and it droned bad with the Flowmasters. Right until I put Dynomax mufflers on it, lol. No more drone!

I like 'um. Much better than the 40's. In my opinion, it sounds deeper, less tinnier than with the 40's.

Big Dummy's car will sound rowdy with any muffler! :thumbsup::thumbsup:

The article gives something to think about, for sure. The sound of my little V-8 when I let off the throttle and coast is mellifluous!! mel·lif·lu·ous /məˈliflo͞oəs/ adjective (of a voice or words) sweet or musical; pleasant to hear. "the voice was mellifluous and smooth" synonyms...

If it is indeed an "expired" glass pack or a new hole in the pipe, it won't hurt to drive it until you get it replaced. Might allow a little more exhaust to get into the car though. Good lookin' 66. Post up some more pics!!
