In my car with 1.14 inch torsion bars I had to take out the bar on that side to get my TTIs in....no amount of spinning the slip tube and banging on it with a rubber hammer would it go in.

The last cheap headers I used around 93-94 got flattened at the end of my driveway dropping off the curb onto the street....so the lasted about 15 feet of driving. The old chrome TTIs on my scamp are over 20 years old and are still good... just ugly.

Mine needed a fairly thick shim...

And a little grinding here to clear the TTI headers...

My 72 Scamp needed these shims under the motor mounts...

I put those junk headers on cars 30 years ago... junk in 1987 and still junk today. If you think the original poster is a pussy for getting a shop to put his headers on take it up with him...

In the long run you are better off with manifolds than those crappy headers..

I wouldn't rip anyone off, if someone asked me to put on those headers first I would tell them to send them back and get Dougs or TTIs. If they insisted I would only do the job by the hour. The guy should have asked here first about buying those Hookers, I bet most people who have installed...

If you can do all that work in 4 hours more power to you! What model number of hooker headers are you using with power steering in a A body?

So if someone suppliess shop with a part and it doesn't fit the shop should just eat the labour ...I'm actually surprised they would quote you, I would charge by the hour and keep going until they fit or you ran out of money.

Lots of time people order the wrong headers or miss things like will not "fit power steering" or " will not fit manual transmission " and still try to put them in.

I stopped reading your post at hooker super comps... you should apologize to the shop for trying to make them install those things, hopefully their employees didn't quit on them.

I would still leave the manifolds until you start getting close to 400hp, I have TTI's on a car that went in without a dent but every time I work on the car I wish it still had manifolds.

Leave the factory manifolds on it, the headers are not worth the hassle on a stock engine.
