    Overheating 360 new engine

Going in a different direction, since this is a pretty new motor. My freshly rebuild bbm was giving me fits with overheating so I tried shroud, fan spacer, water wetter, auxilary pusher fan, hi flow thermostat etc and finally found my cam was cut 5 degrees retarded. Degreed it and all my...

    heater core leak?

BTW there is a good chance you are revving the340 more than the /6. You may want to consider a restrictor on you water pump outlet to keep the pressure down.

    Is this a fair radiator?

The other problem to be aware of is pushing too much pressure thru the heater core. High rpms and an overdriven waterpump could be the death of an older heater core. They sell restrictors to limit the amount of pressure for high rpm applications. Replaces outlet to the heater on the pump.

    Is this a fair radiator?

Maybe I'm looking at this backwards but don't you want a smaller waterpump pulley than the crank if you want it to go faster?

    Pulley Alignment

If u lay about 1/2" rod in the valley of a pulley you can get the proper alignment for the next pulley and shim accordingly.

Chased my too hot motor for about 2 years. Finally discovered the timing chain, installed dot to dot was 5 degrees retarded. You wouldn't believe all the things I tried.

Why is coolant leaking under the dash?

So one of the issues of upgrading the performance is the old girl may not be able to take it. If you rev your motor to a high rpm it puts a lot of pressure on the heater core. There is a restrictor you can install on the outlet from the water pump to reduce the pressure.

Heater core started leaking, reminders/tips how to remove box?

I ran into my higher revving 360 putting too much pressure on my heater core and I ended up installing a restrictor off the top of the waterpump. Basically the fitting with a reduced ID.

So looks like I have to replace my heater core

BTW I had to replace my heater core cause my new motor revs a lot higher and puts extra pressure on the heater lines and core. When I replaced the core I also put a restrictor on the inlet fitting.

    340 overheating problem

Do you know what your cam is degreed in at? I installed my cam "straight up" dot to dot and discovered it was cut 5 degrees retarded. I tried everything to fix my overheating including shroud, be cool rad, push fan with my mechanical fan, water wetter etc. Nothing solved the problem til I...
