    Picked up a '65 Valiant 100

8 3/4 is installed, check out that cool banner in the background behind the Barracuda too..

    Picked up a '65 Valiant 100

Been a while since I posted here! Well, that LA318 with Magnum heads/intake didn't stay in there too long. Started blowing a ton of blue, suspected rings. Then the rear main popped. So I pulled that and installed a '69 318 I bought from a friend, it was in his Barracuda. Again, rings and rear...

    I painted my '65 Valiant 100 a 2 tone

Good info, good tips. However, I don't believe I should have to pay someone else to do all my work. There's only one way to learn, and that's to do it yourself. I'm very happy with it, I'm not concerned about the orange peel or dust. I wanted a colour change, and I didn't want to hand over 5...

    I painted my '65 Valiant 100 a 2 tone

Now that it's outside and reassembled, I am very happy with it. Those fluorescent lights weren't doing it any favors.

    I painted my '65 Valiant 100 a 2 tone

The paint guy down the road said don't wet sand it, it's single stage with metallics. ??

    I painted my '65 Valiant 100 a 2 tone

Yes I think it was! The fender tag is pretty empty, it was probably one of the cheapest cars built in '65. 170 slant 6, 3 on the tree, 9" manual drums, manual steering, radio delete, no rear arm rests, no trim (Valiant 100). No frills.

    I painted my '65 Valiant 100 a 2 tone

I thought I'd give my '65 Valiant a new look, the 30 year old worn out satin black paint job wasn't doing it for me anymore. I sprayed it in the shop, and although I'm definitely no painter, I'm happy with how it turned out. If you get up close, it's a lot of orange peel, full of dust and dog...

'67 Imperial Parts in '65 Dart?

I agree with RRR, grab the whole thing and sell parts off it. They aren't making this stuff anymore, and it would be a shame to send all those good parts to scrap, "rust bucket" or not.

    66 Valiant 6 to V8

Yes the K member is the same, you need V8 engine mounts. Also you will need to change the drag link, it hangs a little lower on the V8 cars. Your /6 drag link will not work.

Update on '65 Valiant drivetrain swap

I may look into V8 bars when I have some more money to spend, for now I just cranked up the bars a little, redid the camber, and set the toe. Yes, I should upgrade to a dual master, but for now it's working, plus I can gear down, it's not just all on the brakes to slow down.

Update on '65 Valiant drivetrain swap

Yes, it's a factory short box '69 Fargo W100 Power Wagon. I put a 360 in place of the seized 318, in front of the 4 speed. I have since sold it, I do have a few more though. I have an 8 3/4 to go in it, probably in the spring. I've been driving it these past few days, pulls hard! But needs an...

Update on '65 Valiant drivetrain swap

Nahhh, that keeps life exciting! LOL! I can always gear down!

Update on '65 Valiant drivetrain swap

Thanks man! Ah, an hour here, an hour there. Funny enough, the car was imported from Washington a couple years ago, and during inspection, needed a new master. So the previous owner replaced it with another single master! Oh well, I'll be doing some more upgrades before spring, but nice to have...

Update on '65 Valiant drivetrain swap

Here's an update on my '65 Valiant 100 build. It had a tired slant & 3 on the tree. Though I do like that combo, I had a '71 LA 318 with a Magnum head/intake swap, and a 4 speed taking up space in the shop. I still need to fix an exhaust leak at the collector, but it's ready to be driven. Engine...

    Picked up a '65 Valiant 100

Got it running yesterday, still needs full exhaust. I have a set of Spitfire Early A body headers on it, the collectors dump right into both torsion bars, and the Z bar for the clutch. My mystery engine holds 65 pounds of oil pressure, which is sweet!! Has some duration of an unknown cam...

Cable type gas pedal for early A

I just put a pedal from a '69 Dart into my '65 Valiant 318 4 speed. I moved the pedal over to the left about 2" because the original position had the pedal hitting the 4 speed hump. Pretty simple, I had to drill a new 1" hole in the firewall for the cable to go through, and 2 holes for the...

    Picked up a '65 Valiant 100

Here's an update. The '68 318 I picked up wasn't much good as it sat either. Pulled the intake, SUPER gummy inside, as in, everything plugged up. Pulled the cam.. the bearings fell apart in my fingers. Well, off it went to a new owner. I had picked up a '68 Monaco 500 for parts, and under the...

Do you have a link for that thread? I can't seem to find it.

    Picked up a '65 Valiant 100

It's got a bench, I suppose it would just be in the floor where a floor shifter would normally sit? This column's 3 on the tree mechanism needs a rebuild, it's pretty hurtin. Lots of jamming up. My '50 Fargo has 3 on the tree as well, so I won't be losing out on driving it.

    Picked up a '65 Valiant 100

Drove it with the slant for a couple months, but that engine is just worn out. So I yanked it out this morning, and grabbed the 318 & 4 speed to get ready to drop in. It'll be a low budget build, mild cam, etc. I managed to find a set of Spitfire Early A headers, full dual exhaust with X pipe...

    Picked up a '65 Valiant 100

Floors have some pinholes, due to leaky wiper seals, but body and frame rails are beautiful, completely rust free. It was a great find and very affordable

    Picked up a '65 Valiant 100

Years back I had a '65 Valiant 200, 273 auto, 4 door. I loved that car, drove it all over the place, had it for years. I sold it and sadly it got parted out. I had the itch for another, and a friend sold me this '65 Valiant 100, 170 slant 6 and 3 on the tree. Very low optioned, radio delete...

    Valiant Owners Post Here

Yes this is just a parts car (completely rotted out underneath) but thought I'd show it anyways, being it's one of those late production '68s with the Barracuda rally dash.

    canadian dart?

Nooo.. That's a Valiant. They never badged Valiants as Darts, they only badged Darts as Valiants. And it started in '65 as far as I can tell. The one in the ad is just a typo.
  26. 70DartMike

    Rear end?

    Most likely something around 2.9.
  27. 70DartMike

    fender tag coding

Looks like 1966? '65 and earlier used numbers at the top instead of lower case letters, and '67 and later didn't start with SO NUMBER at the bottom.

    Rust under battery tray

Take a picture of the rotted area and someone will be able to cut out a rust free patch for you.

    Big bolt vs Small bolt

Yes, and don't forget, often the drivers side studs were left hand thread (the nut spins on the opposite way). That throws people off too.
  30. 70DartMike

    Big bolt vs Small bolt

You're correct, I should have clarified which two studs to measure across.
