Solve the puzzle? Draining converter with Magnum flex plate

Just so you know, moot now, I have drilled and tapped a few 904 convertors, with no noticeable balance effects; but then, the stock 318LAs only rev to barely 5000 when the valves begin to float. Mine had better springs and went to 5500 but the cam was done by 4500 or so. I just reved it to...

    23 or 18 spline?

@Scody21 mentioned the Clutch Tamer. For your driving style, that could save your trans.

    23 or 18 spline?

Well, Caltracs!, that explains a lot. I have a GVod behind my Commando, that I use as a Splitter. I shift that at 7000, with a factory Heavy flywheel thru a CF diaphragm, into a 3.55 posi, into either 295BFGs or into 325/50 Drag-Radials. Into third, my road-gear is 6.92 versus your 6.38 I have...

    23 or 18 spline?

@67_Slimer You did that on the street? With a Dart? With like 255 street tires? I wanna know more about your rear suspension! And yes, your clutch is way outtawhack for street, for how you drive it. Something is gonna have to change. But, Take a good look in your pile there for something...

1968 Dart sudden rear end noise.

Ok gotcha. I'm a Mechanic by trade. I build my own stuff and I do beat the chit out of it, then fix it when it breaks then beat the chit out of it some more, until something else breaks. I did that for five years and then finally got everything strong enough, that nothing after that broke any...

    23 or 18 spline?

Did the gear actually blow up? or did your engine rip off all the clutch teeth? If the gear is physically intact, it ain't/may not be, a throw-away. I took out the backseat of my car, so I can only scare the crap out of one fat friend atta time. In my car, I can feel that 250/300 pounder in...

    23 or 18 spline?

Yes it will My combo is similar to yours, except a 367, the car weighs up to 3650/me in it, and sports 295s most days but has worn out a set of 325/50-15 BFG-DRs. I ran a CF-II for a few months but it was too harsh. I replaced the disc with a factory 340 one, and decreased the clamping a bit...

If yur depressed now, you haven't been; > 500 miles from home, with an engine that is overheating for no apparent reason. > 300 miles from home, with your A833 is stuck in Fourth gear, > 200 miles from home, when at 60mph, the engine just quit running, > 100 miles from home, on a Sunday...

Valiant -64 7.25 rear spider gears do not fit

I see you're in Finland, so before you send them back; 1a) does the Cross pin fit into the case, and can it be secured in place with the screw or pin? and 1b) do the splines fit your axles? and 1c) will the C-clips go back in? If yes to all three; I gotta say this; yur more than halfway home. 2)...

    Trans leak up front

If you park on a hill nose down, the spinning parts inside can pump oil out the front vent, which is inside the BH. This can also happen on the level, if the trans is overfilled, or the fluid gets very hot.

    Torque Converter Stall Speed help.

I'd run with whatever came with the trans. With 3.91s and a 2.74 low gear, plus a hi-pressure 5.9; stall is hardly on the table.

Those Running 3.73 And a TF w/ LockUp.. What's your highway Driving Like?

Most of the Mopar gears are about 9% change between them, except 3.73s, which are 5% up from 3.55s, and 4.8% up to the 3.91s, so about a half a step. And so, it is the one gear that I have never actually run.. In the Mopar manual trans game, the gears are about 39% spread apart which equals...

Those Running 3.73 And a TF w/ LockUp.. What's your highway Driving Like?

Thatt thing got the beer-keg on it? Which would make it a 9/1 injected torque brute, lol. By the math, that would be 1985 rpm, lol. I'm sortof looking for one of those; an early boxy regular cab/2wd/swb, one, with a reasonable body, to transfer my HotRod 367 into, which won't die. I had a '92...

Those Running 3.73 And a TF w/ LockUp.. What's your highway Driving Like?

Listen, I know some of you are gonna hate me for saying this, But I once got my HotRod 367 combo up to 32 mpgs. and it still got into the 12's with 245 tires, spinning most of the way. This is not a brag. This is a statement of fact. and it was running 3.55s with an A833d and a GVod behind...

    Low fluid ?

Going downhill with very low oil-level, could easily do that, as whatever oil is in there sloshes to the front of the pan, leaving the filter sucking air. Fix your dipstick! The correct oil level is about at the parting line between the pan and the case. If you pull the dipstick tube out, you...

    518 Screech in neutral

Packed up is when all the friction material of a certain clutch-pack, goes into the oilpan, and the resulting all steels, weld together in a "pack". Thus the clutch is no longer a clutch at all, but a "direct-drive". I have also seen this happen when a builder drops the front stack into the...

    518 Screech in neutral

AFAIK; If your lock-up is coupled by an electrical switch, then it can only be decoupled by the same switch. But I do not have the hydraulic circuit map to prove it. But It's easy enough to prove. Just get the rear wheels up off the ground, get her up to 30/35 mph in Drive, and hit the lockup...

    518 Screech in neutral

Well yeah if you come to a stop with the lock-up still manually engaged, that clutch is gonna have to complain about it, and screeching would be the logical mode of complaint, as it was never designed to be powerful enough to stall the engine...........

    518 Screech in neutral

IDK: mustabin the low-oil warning system.......... Somebody had to say it, lol. Seriously IDK. In neutral, there are only two regulator valves operational; 1) the main regulator, which reduces the line pressure down from whatever the pump is generating, down to about 55psi. and 2) the...

    How many teeth?

The easiest way to get 100% accuracy is to figure the exact error in percentage, then transfer that error to whatever tooth count is in your trans. In your case, a reading of double is hardly logical. If you look at the chart, the minimum tooth count is 21, and to slow your speed-o down to half...

    Gear Vendors question

@ clementine said: "but kind of a short reply for you......are you feeling ok?" Ok then, for you; Part 2; The 200R4 has pretty good ratios and splits. The ratios are 2.78-1.57-1.00-.67 od and splits of .56-.64-.67 ..Thus the total range is 2.78/.67= 4.15 this is exceptionally good and like...

    NP435 Trans Swap Help

If I recall, that granny gear is/or can be, like a 10/1 ratio, going into the T-case! so yeah that would be near 4 times as low as the 2.66 standard A833 If my '84 was set up for a manual trans, I might put one of my A833s in there. Did you buy that parts truck?

    NP435 Trans Swap Help

I have an 84 here in my yard. It was born with a 360/727/ 8.25 I pulled all that out, when the engine started burning too much oil.
