Ima thinking that pulling the axle , even if it was possible (only on a a C-clip axle) won't work, cuz the backing plate is till attached to the rear-end housing, with the brake-shoes still anchored to it. Ima thinking that would be a waste of time. I'm afraid you'll just have to try harder to...

I suppose that you know that the self-adjusting blade has to be pushed OFF, the star adjuster, and HELD OFF, BEFORE you try to turn the adjuster right? Which means that you need two tools in the window. Assuming yes you knew that; There is a likely a ridge of unworn drum right on the edge of...

    Need help

my guess the throttle is likely too far closed, and the Auto-idle motor is a bit slow. Just open the throttle a hair and let it relearn.

65 Valiant Conv Been sitting since 1984

If that's a 2bbl engine, then IIRC, it's an 8/1 motor. If I'm right, my advice is to forget camming it, unless you are also prepared to install a higher than stock stall convertor and more performance-oriented rear gears..

    New here, looking for advice!

I luv it. I have everything it needs except an interior. I have an HO367engine, a modified 4-speed trans, an overdrive, a narrowed 8.75, Disc brakes, HD suspension, dual exhaust, and a brand new set of 295s on 10s to match those wheels currently on it. If money was easy for me, I'd already be...

Help needed for my project car

Getting something on to the driver-side exhaust flange is gonna be the make or break part of this build. Many BB/ Early-A projects get this far, then stall for lack of exhaust. I once, in about 1976, was given such a project for this very reason. The car was a beautiful 66 Barracuda, and the...

hello from New Zealand, 18 spline head ache a833.

With my street slick-shifted gears, no. the only thing that is important is that he flanks of the teeth are not worn at an angle that would cause them to try and kick the shifter into neutral. As to re-pointing, I do it cuz I can. But truth be told if the brass is still working, those points...

hello from New Zealand, 18 spline head ache a833.

I bought a few feet of cold-rolled seamless tubing, maybe .5 inch od I cheaped out and just cut the ends off some old rods I had; stuffed them into the ends and welded them in

hello from New Zealand, 18 spline head ache a833.

Aggressive in my box, is to make the decision to shift, and then "blam" it in there. I still clutch it, even at WOT, Cuz you know, I'm not too excited about repointing the teeth during the Summer, when I just want to drive. With mine, I found a short stick really helps with the "blamming"; and I...

hello from New Zealand, 18 spline head ache a833.

I graduated hi-school in 1972, after several years of working both systems side by side..... plus fractions, so I got my indoctrination there. It has served me well. Chris I gotta wonder why you want to go thru all this trouble of trying to stretch that nose out into the crank, when it would be...

hello from New Zealand, 18 spline head ache a833.

Yes; I spent 6 years in a major transmission rebuilding shop. I was on the Standard trans line, moving from beginner stuff, to farm trucks, to 18-Wheelers, to industrial. Along the way I learned to do rearends as well This repair was quite popular. Not just for passenger cars but also for bigger...

hello from New Zealand, 18 spline head ache a833.

1/.75=1.33 ratio = the close ratio T/A gear set of 2.47-1.77-1.34-1.00 To use a Chevy trans behind a Mopar, you install an adapter Bellhouse, a GM clutch-disc, and matching TO bearing and fork. But before you get too excited, you still have to deal with the GM Speed-O drive gearing. and IDK...

IDK what that short fat input fits but I've never seen anything like that come out of any SBM or slanty. It looks like a Chevy to me..... but Chevy's are 10spl usually.......

This is what i got. This is what i wanna put in it. Any advice would be appreciated

A 360 with 63cc heads, falls together at close to 11/1Scr, ; and that makes her plenty loud, and the SBM almost drops right in, and you get to keep your P/S, PDB, A/C, whatever, and in your case, (not looking for speed), you can use any old trans/any old rear end/any old gear, but with a...

    Comp cam XE 274 help

Keep in mind (and you may already know this/IDK), that Advertised numbers can fool you; Some cams are spec'd at .006Tappet rise, others at .008, and still others at .001.. The closer to zero, the bigger a cam will read. Therefore; not all 274s are alike. You can take a specific cam that is...

    5 speed trans conversion

If you have a stock-type 318, yes, a five speed can really pep her up. but IMO, it is not that great a benefit, for a 360. Have you considered the Commando 4 speed with 3.23s rear gears? Commando gearset is; 3.09-1.92-1.40-1.00 The Commando low gear is plus 16% over the regular 2.66 low...

    Looking for a little help!

Nope my brother is deceased since 2007, so he ain't talking no more.. That car was already shedding rust in the driveway when I gave it to my brother, which is why I gave it to him, lol. He, being 15, was broke, still in school, and needed wheels to take a part-time job. Whereas I was 25...

    Looking for a little help!

I locate squeeks simply by dribbling or spraying water on the belts. Some belts like to stick to the pulleys, and that for sure makes them squeek. My solution is to deglaze the drive edges. I had one of those in 1976, with a 340 in it. I sure miss it. After a few years I gave it to my younger...

If I could go back to highschool, it would not be for my first car. not even the second or third. It would be for; Mona, Lesley, Beverly, Dale, Gizelle, Nancy, Tracy, Jennifer, Bonny, Luba, and VaVaVoom Veronica, etc.

    Hello from Alberta!

Check your battery cables , cable connections, and the connection from the starter case to the aluminum BH, and back to the battery; the clicking means that the relay is working on the signal side. The quickest way to prove the starter is Ok, is to jumper across from the power-stud to the...

    >About 1975, I purchased my First Barracuda fb. It was a 69 GreenMachine, sorta like yours except it had a white interior and a slanty automatic. Issues with a recently rebuilt 360

Put a vacuum gauge on the dipstick, pop the PCV out of the valve cover, and seal both valve covers. Start her up and let her idle. Make sure there is NO vacuum in the CC which would indicate a leaking intake manifold gasket in the valley. And she's sucking in oil with the air. If the CC is...
