    Dyno pull

I agree. I paid for two hours of dyno time and that included us playing with timing and carb settings. Maybe this was one of those mobile dynos where you pay $100 sign a waiver and strap your car down?

    flywheel horse and rear wheel

I have the info you're looking for but like was said before there's so many variables that you can't do a real comparison. My 408 made 497hp/519tq on an engine dyno with no air cleaner, mufflers or accessories. The same engine in my car with air cleaner, exhaust with mufflers but no tail pipes...

    340 Dart disappointing time slip

I agree. Too bad you don't have a pair of 28" slicks you could bolt on just to try. I'd bet you'd be happier with your results.

    MSD E-curve Distributor Set Up???

I can get the cap off and on without too much trouble but it is tight. I set the dials to 7 & 1 and hooked up a ported vacuum line to the nipple that is hidden on the bottom side of the distributor and isn't even mentioned in the instructions???? According to my calculations this should give me...

    MSD E-curve Distributor Set Up???

Tom built my exhaust and we are gonna take a swing at playing around with the different advance curves built into the MSD distributor. It's going on a chassis dyno next week and I'd like to get the timing sorted out before I start paying someone $100/hr to tune it and they just scratch their...

That explains a lot. Do what you have to in order to keep enjoying your car. Good luck!

    Oil Bypass Filter kits

Don't take this the wrong way, but you must me doing something wrong. I had an adapter on my Dart with crappy headers for the last ten years and never had a problem changing the filter? Didn't even have to get under the car?!? Lean over the fender, grab the filter with a large pair of sliding...

    360 help

I agree. There should only be six threaded holes in the crank and YES, unless your 904 came from a 360, you will need the special flex plate from B&M.

    Beginners,doing multiple modifications at once......

I have been working on my Dart for the last seven years and it's still not close to being done. One thing that I've learned is to try and keep the car drivable. The longest it has sat was about nine months when we did the mini-tub which snow balled into the narrowed rear end which morphed into...

    MSD E-curve Distributor Set Up???

I've been doing some reading in the meantime, and we will go with 20 degrees initial and 15 through the electronic advance. Thanks for the help!

    MSD E-curve Distributor Set Up???

Okay, I think I'm starting to get a grip on this now. What about setting my initial timing at 10 degrees BTDC and then using the C advance curve? That would give me 35 degrees total advance by 2500 rpm. I have no problem in not using the vacuum advance setting. That would mean setting...

    MSD E-curve Distributor Set Up???

Thanks everyone for their help so far. I'm going to show this thread to my builder and see what he thinks. I mean the instructions aren't very clear. I'm still pretty confused even after everyone's posts above. EXACTLY. I needed a new distributor and was going to run the MSD 8833...

    MSD E-curve Distributor Set Up???

Does anyone have any experience setting up a MSD E-curve distributor? I bought one for my 408 build and was just going over the instructions. They are a little too complicated for me to comprehend. I have read that I should plan on running 36 degrees of total timing, with all of the advance...

    360 shakes

What did you replace it with? Part number or link preferably. The bent pulley concerns me also. If something hit the pulley hard enough to bend it, that force could have been transmitted to the crank.

    Shady Dell W-5 HP gain?

I plan on buying my Edelbrock's from SD, after they work their magic on them. I will probably let them spec out a cam to match their heads.

    72 340 Rebuild

The Air gap will not look stock, and the purists will nit pick your engine. You could try painting it engine color, but they will still notice. DAMHIK Should be close on hood clearance. My hood has a high spot where the air cleaner stud hit. I turned it down a couple of twists and it...

Sounds like you have a pretty good combo as it is, why mess with it?
