Going to Check Out a "Barn Find"

I see my buddy who's trying to help me put this deal together every Sunday morning.

Going to Check Out a "Barn Find"

Yes, I was able to move the engine by using the belt and fan. Still waiting to hear back from the seller.

Did you change your Master Cylinder pushrod changing fron single to dual??

Nice! Inline makes quality parts. My lines are in good shape, I'm just going to a safer master cylinder and replacing rubber lines and wheel cylinders.

Can you show me what your asking about? I'm pretty sure it's just a trash bag hanging down, but now you have me curious?

Going to Check Out a "Barn Find"

I plan on putting on some rubber gloves and going at that engine compartment with a shop vac first. There's some pretty nasty **** (literally) under the hood. I'd like to wash everything by hand after taking some pictures of it in the sun.

Did you change your Master Cylinder pushrod changing fron single to dual??

I asked in a different thread, but I'm going to ask again. Has anyone used a kit like this when converting to a dual res m/cyl? It looks much cleaner and simpler than trying to adapt the stock brake lines. 1963 Dodge Dart GT Dual Master Conversion M/C Lines w/Block 3pc, OE Steel

Something had been living in the engine compartment so there is all sorts of nesting material in there. And the other side

I told him I would be back with cash and a trailer whenever he gets the title.

Going to Check Out a "Barn Find"

Interesting story. Twelve hours after the posts above, my buddy called and asked if I wanted to go see the car on Saturday (today)? I just got home from seeing it, and a lot of mystery has been cleared up. It is a true one owner, little old lady school teacher's car. She's been gone since 2002...

Going to Check Out a "Barn Find"

I was merely speculating. What he actually said was "there is a problem with the title". That could mean several different things. This is a very tricky situation. I don't want to appear over anxious and jeopardize the position I am in. Patience will be my best asset.

Going to Check Out a "Barn Find"

Wish I had better news to report but I talked to my friend at church on Sunday and he said the whole thing is tied up in probate. Sounds like the owner died without a will and the title is in his name or is missing. He assured me that no one else has seen it and that I am still first in line.

Going to Check Out a "Barn Find"

No. I've stayed in contact with my buddy and he assures me that I have first shot at it, but we haven't been able to meet up with the owner's son. He has been out of town, and the weather here has SUCKED for two weeks now. I'll keep the thread updated as I get more info. Sorry for the...

Going to Check Out a "Barn Find"

It has Douglas county plates on it so I'm thinking that it's near Lawrence somewhere. It also has a Jayhawks bumper sticker.

Going to Check Out a "Barn Find"

Sorry to say no. It is through a friend and he knows that I'm very interested in seeing it and talking to the original owner's son. Last night he told me that the son is across the state but will be back tomorrow. He's trying to set something up. It's supposed to be -1 F here tomorrow morning...

Going to Check Out a "Barn Find"

I didn't take the picture but it looks like something attached to the exhaust pipe. Maybe the person who "rewired" the engine compartment wrapped something around the exhaust to "fix" a leak?

Going to Check Out a "Barn Find"

270 was a trim level. I had a 67 Dart 270 and it wasn't anything special, but it did have a fancy steering wheel. I'm hoping for a small upgrade somewhere similar.

Going to Check Out a "Barn Find"

I found out that the Dart is a 270. I'm not sure what that adds to the vehicle but it's better than a base model. Does anyone know what a 270 brings to the party? I also got a picture from under the hood and saw this wiring mess. I'm thinking mice damage? And who repairs wiring using ONE roll...

Going to Check Out a "Barn Find"

It would have to have them on today for sure! That area where the carpet is pulled back is the only rust he could find on the car.

Going to Check Out a "Barn Find"

It's a crappy picture but it's the best I can do until I see the car. I talked to my friend today and he said that the first time he went to look at it, the garage door broke and wouldn't close. The company that repairs garage doors said that they couldn't fix it with the car in the way. So...

The son said she was getting too old to drive. I'm pretty sure it wasn't because the slant 6 quit at 78k, 300 miles after an oil change. We shall see.

Going to Check Out a "Barn Find"

A friend from church asked me the other day if I'd be interested in checking out a car this weekend. He visits the elderly in our parish and ran across this car. He knew that I was a "Dart guy" so he immediately thought of me. The owner has passed and the son is clearing out the garage. Here is...

    BLACKED OUT HOOD MAINTENANCE ??

I'm having a similar problem on my black hood scoops. No matter what I try, they always come out streaky or uneven. Really works against my OCD especially when cleaning it up for a show or cruise in. :BangHead:

I'll give you a bump because I'm getting ready to do the same thing. I'm farming it out to a friend who knows WAAAAY more than myself, but I think it's just and matter of having the cones milled down a bit. RRR did a nice write up on it a while back. It's definitely not the same show since Ed China left but Ant Anstead is a very talented builder also. He has his own show on MotorTrend and does all of his own fabrication. Plus his wife is smokin' hot.

    1966 Plymouth Barracuda

It sounds like you have it steering and stopping safely, don't forget new shocks and a good alignment. I personally would work on making it more enjoyable to ride in for everyone. If it needs new carpet then that's a good weekend project. New engine and certainly new paint can be an extended...

So you thought my rattling/ticking noise was an exhaust leak?

When you pull the rear end cover, check for saw dust in the gear lube! The old guys will understand.

    New Headlights?

The car is parked and I'll be replacing the tail light harness this winter. I'll pull the bulbs and use the ones that Dan reccomended above. Thanks everyone!

    New Headlights?

Dan I took your advice on the Night Hawks and they are a great light for occasional spirited driving at night at a reasonable price. Very satisfied with them, even without the relays, but I have a new forward lighting harness so that may help a little. I recently installed these for my...
