    6=8 and bore over?

EXACTLY. Fix what you have first. You're gonna be awful disappointed if you replace the engine and it turns out that there is a problem with the fuel line collapsing or some similar problem. After you getting it running properly and tuned up, I would work on the brakes and suspension. They are...

Problem with 225 in my New Truck

I think I have a vacuum gauge in an old tool box downstairs. Maybe tomorrow morning I can dig it out and run those tests. Like I said earlier the hose and PCV valve are newer. No holes or blockage.

Problem with 225 in my New Truck

Thanks guys. Dan that's a lot of info to digest this early, I'll check it out tonight or over the holiday. I think what I'll do first is to pull the carb and try to figure out why the decrease in vacuum at the PCV port. Hopefully, it will be a quick and easy fix that get the PCV system operating...

Problem with 225 in my New Truck

Alright guys, I thought I was done with the truck for the day but since you all took the time to chime in I felt compelled to go back out and check on the items you mentioned and also give you a little more insight. The previous owner had converted the engine over to a Super Six intake and...

Problem with 225 in my New Truck

The hose and PCV look pretty new, like maybe the previous owner already tried that. I remember the old road draft tubes from back in the day. I'm not too afraid of a worn out engine. As long as the rods aren't coming through the block, I'll keep driving it. I drove my Dart with a worn out 340 in...

Problem with 225 in my New Truck

I just did a little more digging and I'm afraid I have a problem. With the hose pulled off of the breather, I could see a pretty good flow of smoke out of it. Also when I pulled the PCV valve there was very little vacuum being pulled through the hose at idle. So I guess I'm just gonna have to...

Problem with 225 in my New Truck

That's kinda what I thought, but there's no smoke coming out the exhaust once the engine is warm? I've had engines with bad rings before and when you mash down on the loud peddle you usually get a cloud of blue smoke out the exhuast. BTW the first thing I did was add a half can of Seafoam to...

Problem with 225 in my New Truck

Hey everybody. I know this isn't an A body and that there's tons of good info over at slantsix.com but I know everyone here is very helpful and I usually get a pretty quick response. I recently bought this 84 D150 for $2500 and am very happy with the purchase. The reason the owner was selling...

    Rebuilt slant 6 overheating

What does it read while driving down the road with air flowing past the radiator? This is a rebuilt engine and will likely run a little hotter until things settle in. I would drive it for 500 miles at varying speeds and rpm's and see where the temps are after you drain the break in oil out of it?

    D100 slant build

Maybe someday, but I like the patina look and I'm going to ride that fad out until it becomes uncool again! We do plan on lowering it quite a bit but still retain the original style springs. I don't haul a lot but use it occasionally for moving stuff. Maybe some cop car wheels. Let me finish the...

    D100 slant build

Thanks! Yeah, the OD is great for the highway, but it's basically a 3 speed around town. My engine is a Lean Burn engine that someone has ripped out the computers and all of the vacuum hoses. I have hoses and wiring harnesses hanging all over. I want to build a solid 225 that pulls good and we...

    D100 slant build

Subscribed. I bought this one a few months ago and plan on doing the same thing. It has the four speed OD in it so it pulls pretty decent down low, but man, is the engine tired.

A question that I am not sure how to even ask...

On a 51 year old engine?!? Yes. You're going to have to pull the valve cover and see what's going on. There is currently another thread active about a sludged up motor and different opinions and ideas of how to clean it out. I would try to find that thread. Lots of good ideas. Good luck!

    What's it worth?

I'd ask $200 OBO and the market will tell you what it's worth. Take good pictures and write a good description, including every known keyword that might apply. Bump it to the top of CL every couple days. After a while, slowly start dropping the price. See what happens. Good luck!!

"straight six sitting sideways under the hood"

Greg, I looked at the ad hoping to see that six sitting sideways, but there were no pictures! If I had to, I'd bet it was just leaning, not sitting!!!

    fuel issue after car sits.

Exact same thing happens to my Dart after sitting for two weeks. Pump it twice. Crank it over to fill the fuel bowls. Once it tries to fire, pump it again once. Voila!! She starts and runs. My buddy diagnosed it as "new" gas formulation a long time ago and I have not worried about it...

Hurst floor ratchet shifter install ?

Yeah, I've been using the shifter for a little over a year now. Everything works fine. It's almost like a form of theft deterant because if you don't know how a ratchet shifter works, it's hard to get it into gear. I had a car guy get in it and he couldn't figure out that you had to lift...

Hurst floor ratchet shifter install ?

I think it would be difficult to reach with the bench seat. Use my second picture for reference. At least half the shifter is behind the leading edge of the seats. This area would have to be cut out (I've seen it done) of your bench for the shifter to mount close enough to reach it. It...

Hurst floor ratchet shifter install ?

Here is one without the seats in... I am not going to use the plastic cover that comes with it. I plan on building my own console and hopefully putting a rubber boot around any part of the shifter that is exposed. Also plan on losing the uber cool brown marble shift ball!! Here is another...

Hurst floor ratchet shifter install ?

I put a Hurst Pro-matic on my 727. Wasn't too dificult. Just make sure you have the correct bracket for the trans, drill the hole for the cable, and route the cable away from the hot exhaust.

Show your slant 6 a body!

Here's my Demon. I just got it this week, but have been working on it daily. So far I've replaced the water pump and all the hoses and belt. Today I changed the oil and filter, and put on a new idler arm. I really like how easy everything is to reach on the slant 6!
