    MUFFLER OPINIONS

I have Flowmaster 44s and rectangle Flowmaster tips on one of my cars with a H pipe crossover. It is quite loud maybe a bit too loud for my tastes, but there is no droning at any speed. You can really hear the cam with this set up. Another car I have has the Summit brand turbo mufflers (their...

schmacher big block headers back in stock.

I see your point, but this thread is talking about big block headers not small block ones which makes my prices correct... And the shipping is calculated at checkout. Probably has a lot to do with the destination...

schmacher big block headers back in stock.

$699 uncoated or $899 coated. Is the extra $300 for shipping?

    TTI headers

It all depends on what R.P.M. you are going to shift at or go through the traps at. If it's 7,000 then the bigger headers will make a difference with your particular set up, but if it's 5,500 then the smaller tube headers that you have will be just fine. Honestly, I would buy the bigger ones and...

    408 Stroker exhaust sound

What a beautiful, well thought out, '73 Duster! Thank you for sharing. The idle seems a bit too high though....... Or is it just me? Where in B.C. are you living? I'm originally from Cranbrook.

I would like to hear one of the Blue Print 408 crate engines running in as delivered form as well.......

    Headers for 1967 Dodge Dart

Do you like to swear? Throw **** around the garage? Drink excessively? Then cheap headers are right for you. I the answer is no to the above questions, then go with a good header like TTIs or Doug's. A lot more initial investment, but worth it to your mental health in the long run........ And...

    440 Headers ID

Another vote that they're Schumacher tri y's. They are very good for under 500 horses and are quite sought after these days. Beautiful welding on the exhaust pipes, BTW!

    What would you do?

Another vote for B here. If you decide to build a bullet for it later, then C with good headers like Doug's or TTIs would be a good upgrade to do now while you're buying exhaust. There's no use paying twice.

70 Dart S6 to 383BB conversion - Cast Iron Manifolds

This is my opinion and my opinion only. If your engine builder says that using stock log cast iron manifolds isn't going to hurt performance on a tunnel rammed big block with a cam in an A-Body, it's time to find another engine builder. You will lose at least 50 or more horsepower alone using...

My Personal TTI Full Exhaust Review

Thanks for your response. It sounds like a good deal to me, less money and more power is a win/win situation. I just heard from several people that the Accurate system although pricey, fits like a glove with no hassles. But myself, I am all about tinkering with it a bit to make it work like you...

My Personal TTI Full Exhaust Review

Great and detailed write up, thanks for the pictures and suggestions from all of you, especially the O.P. I'm just curious, how much did the system cost shipped to your door? Also, what would it be like compared to an Accurate brand exhaust system including price? Sounds good, BTW!

    My Dougs D453 install

Nice installation and pictures. I wonder how they would really fit with factory power steering and 4 speed linkage. Anyone tried this? Not intending to hijack your thread here, just a curious question that I think some people might be wondering about....

    Going To make a Change

The engines are blueprinted to the max as well, a lot of careful machining and assembly go into these engines, just like the N.H.R.A. stock class.............. The engines, transmissions, rear end, and suspension are all scienced out to work in concert with each other given the class rules and...

    Going To make a Change

A lot of the F.A.S.T. guys run stroker engines too. Just think of how good they would perform if they added headers and some slicks.............

    TTI vs Dougs

I'm not sure about the coating part of your question, but i can't understand why TTI would claim that the headers won't work on a 318. They may not be optimum for the port size difference, but claiming that they ''won't work'' on a 318 is hogwash. There is lots of meat on the sealing surface of...

Header choice ? 1972 Dodge Dart.

Agreed. Save up and buy Doug's or TTI. Do not use Flowtechs, i did, and what a PITA to install they were. The #7 tube hits the steering coupler on a power steering setup right in the middle of it. I don't know about the others you listed.............

Truck muffler and tail pipe $1800!

Wow! I hope he got at least a kiss if he was getting screwed that badly. What a rip off!
  20. Dartnut

Which long tube header that is not TTI suck the least?

Whatever you do, DON'T buy Flowtechs. They hit the power steering box in several places, and #7 tube hits the steering coupler dead on and you will have to shim the motor mounts up at least 1/4''. And then, they still rub the torsion bars etc. and hang low. Standard steering would be a lot...

    Selling Original Exhaust Manifolds...

It all depends on what the original manifolds are originally off of........... As in A-Body factory manifolds and what year/casting numbers and condition/pitting and or cracks etc. Pictures would go a long way here..............

    Stock sound still available?

Get ahold of Accurate exhaust products, they should have what you need.

    340 exhaust removal

Take the top end off, you are going to be doing it sooner or later. If you're changing heads anyway, why bother to try to remove the broken off bolts/studs in the car? You can do that much easier when the heads are out and on the bench. Use a torch to loosen the bolts in the first place by...

    71 340 manifolds

The A-Body manifolds are different on the driver's side. A-Body manifolds will fit on a B and E but not vice versa. Look for the manifold to be curved to fit around the steering shaft and it's an A Body. Dump at the back and look like a log manifold, and it's a B or E. Passenger side is the...

    HP Manifolds

If they are '70 and older 340 manifolds, i would say yes. But then again, you're half way there to good headers like Doug's or TTI. Your call.

How to Plug Smog Ports in Manifolds

Why bother plugging them? If your heads don't have the ports, they are just along for the ride and will plug up with carbon anyway. If you want some more performance, just buy a set of cheap headers and fool with the fitment of them if you are willing to do some work. (And it sounds like you do)
  28. Dartnut

    Should I buy these?

If you have power steering, they are a real P.I.T.A.

    TTI b.b. a-body headers in a b-body

I can't see why not. The a-body has a smaller engine compartment and narrower frame rails.

Best Headers for 318 in a 72 Dart?

Do NOT buy Flowtechs. You will be beating and twisting them and inventing some new swear words along the way. They are worse if you have power steering. I installed a set on a '69 Valiant 318 auto. I'm either going to change them for something else, or put the stock manifolds back on. Out of all...
