If you must install an engine/trans assembly from the top, consider lifting the rear of the car to help cut down the angle. Possibly fab a thin guard that is taller than the top edge of the core support and another for the firewall? Maybe install the crank pulley after the assembly is in?

Lol, not that it even matters to ya' now. '69 Barracuda stock axle. 1/2"-20 screw in on 4-1/2" BC. 7/16" stud holes filled. 10" X 1-3/4" brakes.............. Looks like Moser still offers the stock length (redrilled) axle with the large 4-1/2" BC. My 40 year old drum on one...

FWIW, after going to disc I gave my 9" drum set off my '69 S (383) to a member here to make some space. Sold the LCA's (with sway tabs) to another.

FWIW, a single pane tempered 17" octagon 3/16" thick ran me 80 bucks recently. And the edges weren't even smoothed.

Cool. Now you know where to go. Make sure they go in square as they can be damaged fairly easy. Don't forget to pack those bearings.

FWIW, My '69 axles were re-drilled back in the 70's. Screw in studs only on the stock flange. The 4' pattern was filled. For the 10 X 1-3/4 brakes the drums were re-drilled as well. Never had an issue with them. Moser was selling stock length Abody replacement axles with the 4-1/2 circle or...

Well, I tried to copy the way they came off the old panels. I used the original clips that came off the old panels. Broken, bent, or missing clips were replaced with YO parts. If I hadn't done the work on it I may never have even noticed the bumps. Lol, Compared to the luxury surround sound...

Desperate folks do desperate deeds. MacGyver approach. Two longer bolts attached to the crank flange and an old bumper jack should do it. An old rod cap and long bolts can pull a balancer off.

I had a missing trunk lock key issue on a '69 Barracuda. I drilled a 1-1/4" (speedbore) hole just below the latch in the plywood drop down panel. I was able to release the latch. Unfortunately, there was enough items in the trunk that it wouldn't drop. I ended up making a hammer flattened...
