Thoughts/opinions on Blueprint Engines 408 stroker crate engine?

So since I'm currently running a 360 in my Swinger, your 408 would drop right in without any balance worries at all? That's very tempting. How much to ship to BC Canada again? Hmmm. :D

    "MAX" stamping on heads

You guys are less than helpful, but hilarious! :D I was secretly hoping that I had a pair of super-rare 360 Max Wedge heads that somehow escaped the factory skunkworks undetected! Sorry Max, I'm keeping them. :p

    "MAX" stamping on heads

I was poking around a 360 engine (casting 4006830-360-10) tonight and noticed a weird stamping of the word "MAX" on the forward end of both heads on the engine. I have no idea what that means having never seen it before, anyone know? Any chance it was done at a machine shop after they milled the...

My Blueprint crate engine story - May 2018

Two ferry rides in a regular pick-up is an easy $300 round-trip alone. Don't get me started on BC Ferries! :mob: As for the 408 engine, if a person was looking to replace a 360 in their car (such as mine) with a 408, would it work balance-wise with the 360 torque convertor, etc? Is it still...

    360 External balance question

Then I was quite the dampener in college! :D

    360 External balance question

Quick question: I have an 82 360 in my Demon and have been having balance issues with the engine since I put it in. Tonight I noticed that the relief cut into my harmonic balancer is 180 degrees off from the relief cut into my B&M flexplate. Is this normal??? Thanks!

    77 440 Motorhome Engine - Info Needed

The numbers should be on the raised pad on the engine forward of the intake manifold if it's a 440. I'm not 100% sure but I think 1977 would read M440 on the raised pad.

    Need help! No torque 360.

Maybe you just need more converter. My fresh 360 felt sluggish to me until I swapped out the factory "hi stall" converter for a TCI Streetfighter 3500 unit. My car feels like a pro-stocker now, lots of grunt down low with excellent mid range and higher rpm pull... and that's with a 3.23 gear...

    318 to 360 swap

Not if you bought the 340/360 kit. :)

    318 to 360 swap

Don't forget you'll also need a different LH engine mount.

    Ramcharger problems

Here's something easy but had me baffled for a couple of weeks when my truck was running like a bag of crap: check the vacuum connections on the vacuum tree on the back of the intake manifold behind the throttle body. I had a loose one (3/8ths line) and the lean condition made the RC buck and...

    Ramcharger problems

Sounds like a bad EGR valve to me. My 89 318 TBI Ramcharger did the same thing last fall. I just pulled off the vacuum line to the EGR, plugged the vac line and the truck started to run perfectly. It's a good place to start since they are prone to plugging.

    Starter interchange question

Have to balance smart with cheap right now! :D Been buying so much stuff for my 360 conversion over the winter that reusing my current starter makes my wallet sigh loudly with relief. I'll change it out for a mini-starter later but to get the car rolling under V8 power, the slant six unit will...

    Starter interchange question

Any chance the starter from a 225 slant six will bolt on and work on a small block (360) with a 727 tranny?

How much CFM for a 360?

The stock 360 4bbls came with an 800cfm Thermoquad from the factory... overkill?

    Cam for low compression 360

What would be a nice "performance" cam that would work with a stock compression 1982 360 engine in my Demon running 3.23 gears with a factory hi-stall convertor in the 727? I'd like to upgrade from the stock broomstick and have a nice balance of low end torque, mid rage power and a bumpity...

    Engine pulleys

Looks like 1970 and up will work... thanks for the link. Now, a friend has a 70 Polara parts car with a 318 in it... what are the chances that the engine is a late 69 build with the wrong pulleys? :(

    Engine pulleys

I have a rebuilt 1982 360 engine that's destined for my Demon in the spring (if it ever gets here!) but I'm having issues with getting a full set of pulleys for it. I've been told that the crank pulley for the small block changed bolt patterns sometime in the late 60s/early 70's from an...

    Crank bolt size?

What's the head size of the large bolt that holds on the 360 harmonic balancer? I'm thinking 1 1/16th but need conformation before I run out and buy a socket. Thanks!

    Emissions SB heads

Thanks for the info/advice. Taking the heads off is no biggie since the engine is still on the stand in the corner of the garage... just need some weather above zero so I can stay out there for more than five minutes...

    Emissions SB heads

Are they already drilled to accept a certain size tap or is it a drill up and tap accordingly deal? The heads are already bolted on the rebuilt engine and I'd hate to introduce a pile of swarf into the fresh engine by drilling.

    Emissions SB heads

Seeing that the later 360 heads had emissions ports adjacent to the exhaust ports that will be uncovered when headers are installed, what's the best way to plug these?

Found a cheap 413bb, need info on it!

I think the motorhome 413 are easily identified by cooling pipes running into the front of both cylinder heads.

Thread size for tranny bellhousing to engine block bolts?

I bought an engine stand today to mount my 360 engine so I can work on it over the winter. In order the hang the engine, I need 4 bolts that will thread into the engine block that are about 1 1/4" longer than the bolts that are normally used to bolt on the tranny. Anyone know what the bolt...

    Ford 302 vs 318

The problem as I see it is that whereas the Ford 302 was built for many performance applications (Boss 302, 5.0L) using forged internals, the 318 was never really utilised as a performance engine.
