Thanks yeah it couldn't hurt at all. Better than going into it with an open checkbook.

    Need plumbing help

It's a 3/4 pipe on municipal. I did a water leak test overnight. Took a picture of the water meter, didn't use the water overnight for 8 hours and checked it in the morning and the meter hadn't moved at all. I think what I have going on is cracks in the concrete slab that are seeping...

    Need plumbing help

I recently moved a bunch of furniture from a couple of rooms in my house and I noticed the baseboards were discolored. So I took them off and they had obviously soaked in a lot of moisture. Turns out all the baseboards along the back of the house and halfway up one of the sides are like that...

Are you quarantined or still working ?

Yep the doors being propped open is a simple and effective way to keep germs from being spread. I read this article about this sensor that can be installed in front of businesses and it has A.I. with facial recognition and what it does is automatically take your temperature when you walk in...

IDEAS ON WHAT TO DO BEING ISOLATED AT HOME

The one good thing about our hobby is we have a.....hobby. I know a lot of people who just live in apartments and work and then play online or watch netflix or go out to bars on weekends. They're going crazy right now being stuck at home while I'm actually being more productive on the cars and...

Are you quarantined or still working ?

My shop is essential since we work on public safety equipment but there have been zero safety measures taken here. Twice in this last week they have called everyone into the break room for meetings where everyone basically has to sit shoulder to shoulder. I just stayed at my work bench and...

    Just got laid off..

Might be a good idea to start applying to the companies that are even busier than normal with the lock downs. Amazon, grocery stores and other essential businesses. Good luck brother.

Any advice on what I need to know about country living/owning property?

About as picturesque as it gets for the common man. Love it.

Tried my hand at paint today...

I had a feeling, which is why I put paint booth in quotes lol. I'm in the same boat as you are so this just gives me more confidence in my attempt that'll be coming up here within the next year. You see professional guys talking online about having to set up a booth perfectly and then you see...

Right on man. I'm thinking about doing the same myself. Can you give us any details on your "paint booth"?

Any advice on what I need to know about country living/owning property?

Nice I was actually just there last month. Checked out the car show and then went and watched the races over at Fast Fridays. Yeah that's exactly what I'm looking for. Rural but still fairly close to schools and 80 since I may still have to commute to Sacramento for a while. I got some good...

Any advice on what I need to know about country living/owning property?

Yeah water is something that I have to figure out before hand. My brother lives up in Boise ID and is on a well and pays 5x what I currently pay during the summer months. He said if you literally live across the street, you're on city water and pay substantially less than he does. I don't really...

Any advice on what I need to know about country living/owning property?

I currently own a home in the city but I'm going to be getting married next year and we're planning on buying ourselves a nicer home. I'm looking to possibly move to Auburn California which is like a small city but still very much country. In our price range there are some homes that come with...

Same here unless that stranger has food. My dog's love for food, like something even as small as a crouton, trumps his love for me and my safety.

Sediment broken free in pipes has likely caused lower water pressure

Yep I looked there first since that was the easiest to deal with. I left them off until I got everything back together and it seems to be working a bit better now. Shower is nearly 100% but the kitchen faucet isn't so I'm going to have to dig a little deeper on that end. If I had to change the...

Sediment broken free in pipes has likely caused lower water pressure

Had some good success getting the pressure up a bit. It's not back to where it was but it's manageable at the moment. Changing the main valve that comes into the house helped a lot. It was so corroded that it wasn't opening up all the way and it obviously wasn't closing all the way either. I...

Sediment broken free in pipes has likely caused lower water pressure

There is a whole janky looking spigot and sprinkler system out back where the water comes into the house. I'll just remove a couple of spigots and purge it out back. I found the shut off by the water meter so I was able to change the water main coming up into the house. The line that goes into...

Sediment broken free in pipes has likely caused lower water pressure

Thanks guys. I don't have a crawl space or anything so repiping would basically be a complete remodel. I think what I'm going to do is use the neighbors hose and try and hook it up to my shower and back flush the water from there since I'm guessing that's the first stop that the cold water hits...

Sediment broken free in pipes has likely caused lower water pressure

Does anyone here know what I can do about this? My house is old and has a combination of galvanized, brass and copper pipe and fittings. I went to fix a couple of leaky valves outside and I noticed the pipe was jam packed full of rust and calcium. I took the pipes apart and replaced them and...

Looks like corporate greed has destroyed Wheeler Dealers

It was one of the few car shows I could stand to watch but looks like Velocity is going to dumb it down to what the rest of their shows basically are. A bunch of fake deals, made up problems, bad acting, sponsors shoved in your face and grown men going around playing grab *** for an hour. Oh and...

    Mistakes you only make once

I was 17 and it was the summer after high school. My uncle knew a guy who managed a well respected Mom and Pop auto shop right here in my neighborhood and got me a job there changing oil. It was my first job ever. I only lasted one day. I had to change oil on a diesel truck. Was doing fine...

    Who else rocks tints?

Use a razor and see if you can strip the tint away in one piece or a few big pieces. Then spray a general cleaner on there to moisten the glue and scrape it away with the razor. Vacuum it up as you go. Should go by fairly quickly.

    Im kinda Bummed

I worked at Home Depot 10 years ago and they sold us on this idea of "success sharing". Basically saying if we worked really hard for a year and drove sales up, everyone in the store would get a bonus check. So for a year we collectively busted *** and by the end of the year we had the...

Thinking about buying a "newer" truck - any advice?

I've been thinking about this more and more. Even after doing more research today, even the RAM's are expensive as hell. Might just wait for a nice D100 to pop up with a rebuilt motor and paint job. Problem is that with our smog laws I'm stuck between 72 and 75 for a pickup since I don't want a...
