    Sealed Beam Headlights

They don't seem like such a big deal until you're driving one of our cars with no tint and all the sudden every car behind you feels like a UFO abduction.

    Radio antenna

I wouldn't move it if it were me. I'd rather come up with a different way to listen to music, like a hidden bluetooth receiver, than drill a large hole in a spot where it doesn't belong on one of these cars. First try grounding the antenna. Run some temporary alligator clip leads from the...

    Radio antenna

I would think that you'd have issues with your antenna working well with fiberglass fenders. Antennas like a large, flat, smooth ground plane to operate at their peak. Fortunately for us, we're only receiving and not transmitting so you really don't need your antenna operating at its peak to be...

    1968 barracuda starter cable issues

It looks like the 68 Valiant schematic is wired the way you describe. Only thing that seems off is the second battery cable sized wire connecting the starter solenoid to the starter. That's really just an internal connection.

    Hood light?

I just did my engine bay. Ohm'd everything from the bulkhead connector on out. Printed out a schematic and made my own edits to it since there's a few circuits there that have been modified or added due to an AC install, electronic ignition etc.

    Battery Lug Terminals

Looks good! May not be exactly factory but they're higher quality than the cheapo parts store cables.

    Battery Lug Terminals

Yeah I don't remember if I twisted them together or just stuck them in side by side but I placed the 8ga wire in with the 4 gauge. Here's a copy and paste of my order from a couple years ago. It probably has a few extras in there but I basically used some stuff that I already had and then the...

    Battery Lug Terminals

You solder them. It's pretty easy to do with a basic harbor freight butane torch but if I remember right, I may have had to use a more legit propane torch because I believe my smaller hand held one may not have been powerful enough for that size connector. If you've ever soldered an all metal...

You're one of the good guys here who always seems to go out of his way to help people. I don't have a problem with anything you said and I don't think the thread starter does either.

    Help!! What is this box?

The post was about using the search feature on the forum to identify the part. What would he have typed in to search for it? Thingamajig? Doohickey? Maybe the guy didn't know he could have gone to mymopar to get a manual? He could have thought they had to be purchased online with a week wait...

    what gauge of wires?

Go to mymopar.com and download the service manual for your car. The back of the electrical chapter will have the fuse sizes. You can get fuses at any parts store.

    American auto wire harness

Just a quick glance at the picture of the harness and it looks like you can't piece meal it. This harness looks like a one time install deal. I've never done one of these harness installs but I've wired a lot of stuff throughout my career. If it's the type where the fuse block mounts to the...

    what gauge of wires?

What exactly are you attempting to solder with an iron that is too small? If it's the cheap blue and yellow connectors, a small iron would easily be sufficient but you'd want to remove the plastic insulation on them and then use your own heat shrink. If you're trying to solder battery...

    what gauge of wires?

I would think that the fuse would be there to protect the wire and device from burning up. Other than a fusible link, I'm not sure if wires burning is the correct type of protection for the devices in the vehicle.

    Disconnect battery when parked?

It can't hurt but I think it's about as close to unnecessary as it gets if you're purely using it to prevent fires when parked. It takes a short or at least a loose connection that is arcing to start a fire. If it's going to happen, it's going to happen when you're driving 99.9999% of the...

    Electrical solderless or soldered connectors

I crimp with the standard manual Klein crimpers that someone posted on the previous page and use quality insulated butt splices while adding heat shrink over the top for looks mainly. I've probably done a few thousand splices like this over the years at home and work and have never had a failure...

Hyundai's New Spark Plug Safeguards The Future Of The Combustion Engine

    Starter Relay

If I was troubleshooting that picture, I'd do it like this: I'd check the ohms from the soldered blank tab of the relay to the negative battery terminal. Low ohms means you have a good ground. Switch your meter to DC volts and check and make sure there is a constant 12v on the big starter...

Low Beams dead, Hi Beam Fine?

People tend to forget how their minds worked when they first started wrenching and troubleshooting. Alternator gauge is smoking

Could also take a HF voltmeter, put it on amps and connect it in series where the ammeter would go and see what kind of amps you're pulling. If the problem goes away it's either something internal to the factory gauge or a connection issue at the back of the gauge itself. The pics of the gauge...

    Installing ignition relay

Voltage drops on the ground side cause over charging and voltage drops of the positive side cause undercharging. You're overcharging so you should be looking at your ground circuits.
