The importance of measuring bell housing runout.

Thanks it's been a few months since I did it initially. I'm going to recheck it right before I drop the engine/tranny in so I'll fill the card out at that point.

The importance of measuring bell housing runout.

I struggled with this setting up my TKX. Most of us don't have a snap on magnetic base and dial indicator. I used Harbor Freight since it's something I use every once in a blue moon. Wound up having to remove one of the flywheel bolts to get the magnetic base to stick. Probably rotated the...

    TKX bellhousing offset dowel confusion

Yep just got off the phone with shift sst and they said to cut them down as well.

    TKX bellhousing offset dowel confusion

Yeah I have the Robb style. I just went and checked and the bell housing doesn't have through holes so this style isn't going to work for me. Too long to be able to make the bell to the engine. I'll call shift sst and see what they say tomorrow. Thanks.

    TKX bellhousing offset dowel confusion

Thanks for the replies. I'll check it out again when I get a chance later today but I'm pretty sure the dowel holes in the bellhousing that I have aren't open unless I'm making a mistake and using the wrong holes. @66Valiant528 you're saying the slotted end goes into the bellhousing? I thought...

    TKX bellhousing offset dowel confusion

Installing a set of .007" offset dowels to get the run out alignment in spec and it seems to me like the dowels that shift sst sent me are too long. The side with the cut outs should go into the block right? I installed them that way but there is a good 1/4" gap when I tried putting the...

    Tremec TKX first cuts

I tried having my wife hold it in place but when I depressed the pedal, the MC kept moving on her. So that's why I decided to just drill a hole and then elongate it depending on which way it needed to go. The push rod doesn't go into the rubber boot absolutely perfectly but it's pretty dang...

    Tremec TKX first cuts

Thanks I'm reading the instructions online and am going to see if I can just attach it to the brake master cylinder studs and avoid drilling into the firewall. Probably wont wind up being that simple though. Whoever wound up with your car got one hell of a deal. I would have snatched it up in...

    Tremec TKX first cuts

I got the clutch MC aligned about as good as I could get it without needing any type of twist. Wound up drilling one hole and mounting it. Ran the clutch pedal back and forth and decided that the MC needed to be dropped a bit. Elongated the hole in the firewall downward and it seems to go in a...

    Tremec TKX first cuts

Clean install! Both of the pics definitely help. jcolman's attachment is different than DC's. See how the spacer is in between the push rod and pedal on DC's and in between the bolt head and push rod on jcolman's? I believe DC's install is the way it's supposed to be done but I can't seem to...

    Tremec TKX first cuts

Thanks Arthur do you remember if you wound up offsetting the MC closer to the driver side fender in relation to the firewall hole? Mine seems to be happiest there but I also have to twist the MC a little bit because the end of it makes contact with the inner fender if I go in straight. Although...

    Tremec TKX first cuts

For you guys that ran the hydraulic clutch, did you have any issues installing and aligning the master cylinder to clutch pedal attachment? If I align the master cylinder centered in the hole in the firewall, the rod from the clutch pedal doesn't really have a straight shot into the master and...

    TKX

I'm still mocking mine up but I can attest that the shifter being in the middle wasn't awkward at all when I was test fitting everything. I wound up having to move mine an inch and a half over to the driver side to get it to fit the console but I preferred having it straight out the middle of...

A833 transplant into 3 on the tree 65 Fish

Do a search on the forum. It's practically the same as doing an auto to 4 speed swap except you get to save a little money and time since you already have the pedals.

    Need clutch and shifter advice

I just bought an 84 D100 pickup with a slant 6 and 4 speed OD. This is my first manual vehicle so I'm really a newbie when it comes to this stuff. It seems to have two problems. One is that the clutch pretty much needs to be released about 85% of the way up before it engages. Is there an...

    id help for /6 bellhousing

You seriously need to chill out man. He probably did some research or asked on another board and had it answered. He came back and said he found the information so no one would waste their time writing up a response or looking at the numbers on their bellhousing. Maybe it would have been nice to...

    833OD into 78 D100 questions

Thanks for your reply dgc. I'm having trouble finding clear pictures but it almost looks as if the 4 speed trucks have more of a squared off hump while the auto's have a round hump. I wonder if this is going to work or not?

    833OD into 78 D100 questions

I have a 78 short bed stepside D100 with a slant 6 and 3 on the tree. I also have an 833OD that has a longer tail shaft as well as a disassembled regular 833 that comes with a shorter A body tail shaft. I have the slant 6 bellhousing for the OD trans as well as z bar, clutch fork and a bunch of...

Auto to 4 speed swap instructions anywhere?

I have a 71 Duster with a slant 6 and 904. I just bought a complete 4 speed OD setup and I'd like to do the swap sometime within the next year. I've never had a 4 speed mopar so I've never even really seen how it goes together up close. Is there an instruction thread or site around complete with...
