REDUCER FOR FUEL LINE TO CARB

No reason for 1/2 line anywhere in a street car. Even our 10 second Race cars are happy with a 3/8 line.

    ANOTHER THERMOQUAD QUESTION

I have never seen Phenolic leak myself unless they have been cracked or damaged in some way.

    ANOTHER THERMOQUAD QUESTION

Often they leak down from the two small O rings. Also there are small pieces on bottom side on Phenolic that I epoxy on to prevent leaks. These are what I would look at first if the carb runs fine. I have not seen them siphon thru Accel pump or discharge nozzles in my experience.

Rebuild or Replace 850 TQ for a Mild 340?

On our race cars, a loose throttle shaft does not seem to make any performance difference unless it is so loose it binds up. Probably gives you a few more CFM (Joke?). Now on a streetcar where it has to run in different throttle/vacuum positions, it could possible cause a tuning/drivability...

Rebuild or Replace 850 TQ for a Mild 340?

Beware of generic TQ rebuilders. They crossbred parts often. There are at least 9 different Phenolics that I recall and only the matched one from the factory will give optimal performance

    440 2x4 setup

If needed it is Easy to drill another hole in each Carb if necessary = Use a gasket for a template. Ram can be drilled if there is enough metal. Post the numbers and we can help more! Not a fan of the Offy Ram adapters.

    440 2x4 setup

They look to me like a bolt on. Does not matter if the Manifold holes are bigger than carbs. 383 Roaderunner had a mamifold hole much bigger than primary on carb. The Carter AFBs were made for almost forever and are a great cab and easy to get parts for still! Try to find or make a progressive...

The 71 340 carbs were recalled for Drivability issues and many were replaced with 72 carbs back then. Yes I am very old! Well, my Balls are the only things that seen to get bigger with age!

Bought my first mopar 73’ Duster and the bottom of the air filter pan is black (right above the carb). Any tips on how the 4bbl should be adjusted

Engine displacement is on a smooth pad on front of block as well as VIN. Casting number is on the side of the block in a raised area but may be had to see.

Can you ID this manifold ? Look closely …

Correct on the manifold. Mopar also told NHRA that the Lil Red Express trucks came with the W2 Heads and conversion came with the trucks to be dealer installed. This allowed the W2 stuff to be used in class that required a production available and produced Head.

    I never tried that.

    1972 California 318 EGR

They are a weird looking jet/plug under carb in intake. I plug them for racing. Beware they are an unusual thread that I can never find anywhere so I tap them to a regular plug that I can find. I do not suggest tapping then with the manifold still on heads.

    How much for 71 Thermoquad?

I have been racing with these Carbs nationally competitively for 50 years. In both Dyno Testing and on the track with properly well prepared 71 and 72 (and up) carbs. The 71's are 10 to 15HP more power on a properly prepared Stock or Superstock 340. This translates to sometimes as much as 1...
