Jon Jr going rounds at 4 Wide Nationals!

Well Jon had a Heads-Up with former world champion (and our Friend) Don Keen in SS/KA third round. We took him a bit too lightly as we have beaten him several times in a row (Never more than a tenth). Both cars ran dangerously close to One Second under which put you in danger of receiving more...

Jon with a first round win at Vegas today.

Well they call it for today! Next round stock will be a bit after 8:00. Jon will face our good friend Mike Cotton this round who is a great racer! The good news is he will be chasing by a couple tenths which is how we like it. First round many guys missed their dial ins. The weather station...

It is 3:30 and still waiting for Round Two and probable will be a few hours yet! Supposed to run another round after that and lighting is not very good here. I was sick as a dog this morning and had the worse light I could remember in competition. My friend Darcy missed his Dial and the race...

    Suggested spark gap for .......

MSD 8.8 Wires They do not quit working but resistance just get higher. The class racing we do is often determined by a hundred or two sometime less. I replace the coil wire ever 20 runs or a couple of months as it gets 8 times the use. We run MSD 7 ignition with best HVC coil.

    Suggested spark gap for .......

Another issue that I noticed was that the spark plug wires tended to go away in about 1/2 the time. I had to replace they every year. I do not know why but they did degrade much faster.

    Will 383 pistons work in a 426 Wedge ?

The 470 Engines always make more HP than we predicted. They are a affordable build and can use a OEM made in US old school Crankshaft.

    Suggested spark gap for .......

We run 040 if we do not backcut the ground piece. Never found a darn thing on the Dyno or Track by going bigger. I have gone as far as 060 with no benefit! FLAME AWAY!

Nice little tow rig for someone

That is OK = I drove an Ice Cream Truck Throughout High School!

Nice little tow rig for someone

That is a very nice unit for the price! It would bring double that on West Coast if it runs Ok and does not have 300,000+ miles on the gas engine. Even if you had to rebuild either the engine or trans you would come out OK at that number.

Going Rounds in Stock at Winternationals

Most of the bracket racing we do does not pay anything to talk about either. Example : last week at MATS both Jon and I got all the way to the finals in our respective class = Total return $300.00 Jon had the best losing package with a .007 light and a couple thousand margin of loss in StockSS...

Going Rounds in Stock at Winternationals

I am not bitching at all = Just explaining to those that do not follow it. I race class because that is what our family has done for a long time and even myself for 60 years. It is where nearly all my friends in the world are participating in and I would never see them otherwise as they are...

Going Rounds in Stock at Winternationals

Well I was able to win the race against Kyle when he went -.003. The round before he put up a .009 and I put up a .011. My dial was 12.48 and his was 10.26 when meant he had to sit and wait a long time which can be tough. I now inherit the bye that was going to be his and that gives me a...

    452 heads on a 1965 Wedge ?

You might consider 906 Heads. Two or three less CC as I recall would get you near 9.5 Compression The 906 head flow considerably more than the 452 in stock form. You do have to consider the seat issues. I know 906 heads do not have harden seats. I do not remember if 452 sometimes or always...

    Will 383 pistons work in a 426 Wedge ?

The stock compression deck on a 383 is about 1.93. That is about .150 shorter than the stock compression deck on a 426. Would they fit = yes. Compression ratio would be around 7 to 1 or a bit less.

Going Rounds in Stock at Winternationals

As I recall we pay $100.00 for medical insurance at every race. When I had an accident at Winternationals they attended to me When they were ready to put me in the Ambulance, they asked for a major credit card to run. I told them that I had insurance from NHRA = They said that ONLY covered...

Going Rounds in Stock at Winternationals

Kyle absolutely destroyed his beautiful fast Camaro. He lost his brakes when he shut down after the pass. I saw him before the race and he had his beautiful 6 month old baby in his arms. He walked away from the scary wreck pretty much unscathed. I had a wreck in 2008 at much less speed and was...

Going Rounds in Stock at Winternationals

Well almost 4 PM and still wet! I do not know if we will race today or not. As in the earlier rounds = No one expects me to win. The elderly man in the Aspen 318 Wagon is never the favorite in the race against the other cars that have often 10 or 20 times the investment in them. But the race...

Going Rounds in Stock at Winternationals

First round I drew former Division Champion Ryan Mangus. I was holding .035 on the tree and went down and took a .004 strip on his hard closing Nova with the 318 Aspen Wagon. Second round I had the misfortune to draw the former to Champion and current Division Champion Jody Lang. I put up a...

Yet another great race at $10,000 Stock/SS Race at MATS

A couple rounds into the Race, Jon faced off against Former World Champion (And Family Friend) "Bad Brad" Burton. This was a rematch of the finals at Arizona Finals a couple years ago where Brad beat Jon in a very tight race. Jon held a tiny advantage on the start with a .007 light but Brad...

Great race round at MATS $10,000 Stock/SS race

I raced former World Champion Ryan Mc Lannahan I put up a .022 light to his .020 light I dialed 11.08 and ran 11.086 (Dumped at 1275 Ft). He dialed 8.51 and ran 8.504 Next round my Hood latch broke against Troy Vetter who won the whole deal. Anyone have an extra Demon Hood latch 71/72 or...

The 68 Valiant was picked by Hot Rod Magazine as one of the 50 most influential of first 50 years of the magazine. It was invited to be displayed at the Peterson Museum at that time. It was one of the first Valiants be in magazines as a hot rod before they were popular. It is nearly unchanged...
