    Plastic for cooling sucks.

Mopar 3.6 thermostats are the same junk. Just like the mini van heater hoses by the firewall that blow up.

    AC Conversion - Oil Drain

Flushing it will never remove all of the oil. That compressor has an oil sump just like an engine. You will have to pull the compressor off and remove the pan to drain the oil.

    a/c for a body

A lot more in parts than you would think. Some of the OEM lines and hoses are long gone. The compressor is big and heavy but used on many a different car. You should take good pictures and list them. Brackets and such are always good because they are hard to find as well. Don't throw anything...

    Flex fan

I had one come apart on me years ago. I will NEVER run one of those thing again! It was the steel type. The rivets were still in the fan, the blade tore loose. I remember Volvo had a recall on them for that very reason.

Does AC rob power while not in use?

I bet it takes more power to carry the extra weight around than to just spin that little pulley.

    A/C pressures

Depends on the temperature / humidity outside. Low side will be @30 to 35 High side @225 to 275 On a hot day High side maybe higher and you'll never get the Low side to 30

    Chrysler 400

After rereading your OP, I think your good to go. It's hot in Texas and if you have a overheat problem I'm sure it would show up real fast. If it's not boiling over when you shut it off I don't see a problem. If the temp comes right back down after a hot soak when you restart it your cooling...

    R134A ?

Some of the really cheap stuff can be filled with ammonia... bad news. Also don't get ones with "sealant" it's just oil. And don't get ones with oil. Your system should not need oil added unless you replace a part and then you should know how much oil that part had in it when removed. Too much...

Radiator Hose Springs - Yes or No ?

Yes, put the spring in. That is a BS line about the rubber. It will still age and the hose will suck shut.

    72 fitment aluminum radiator into a 1974?

In 73 when the front end changed the radiator got a little bit taller. I put a 73 and up radiator in my 72 car and the cap would just touch the inside of the hood. I'm sure you could make it fit but you'll have to grind out the mounting holes.

Good question. I really don't know but some day we will run out of old ones! LOL

    Blown freeze plug

Look at this for sure. None of the newer hoses I've seen have the spring in them. Some parts places say you don't need them... I take it out of the old hose and put in the new ones.
