You'd be hard pressed to beat this deal on a new Hurst Autostick II. I got one from them, haven't installed it yet, but it is new & complete. http://www.ebay.com/itm/271922733297?ru=http%3A%2F%2Fwww.ebay.com%2Fsch%2FeBay-Motors-%2F6000%2Fi.html%3F_from%3DR40%26_nkw%3D271922733297%26_rdc%3D1

    Improving snow traction

Living up here where there's snow 5-6 months a year, the best suggestion I could make would be to throw 2or3 sandbags between each rear wheelwell & the tailgate. Not only does the extra weight give more rear bite, but if you get stuck you can throw the sand under the wheels.

"A" Body 67 Barracuda rear end problem

If you look at the picture of the axle, you'll see they're not aftermarket axles, but redrilled originals.

Throw in your.02 on Torque Converter Suggestion

X2. When I bought our 2800 stall converter for my 273, they built my converter with the small 273 snout for a 68up trans. When we contacted them & told them it was a 67 904 they air-freighted a free replacement & told me to keep the other one.

    High RPMS at 55 MPH

Are you sure it's in 3rd gear. Since it's a Formula S it could have 3:91 gears. Unless your converter is crapped out or really cheap, it shouldn't matter much what stall it has at a steady speed.

    8.25 Strength

Back in 1982 we put a 5:30 geared, sure-grip 8 1/4 in my 13.5:1 comp 340. Snapped an axle the first weekend. Snapped the other axle & spun the backing plate the next weekend. Fixed it, sold it & put in a 5:13 geared 8 3/4. Never had any more trouble. [4 yrs of hard thrashing].

    Bent drive shaft?

Unless the driveshaft is impacted, the only way it could become bent would be due to a twisted shaft. Back in the old days, when we got a driveshaft made up, the first thing we'd do is paint a white line on it from end to end. This way if it twisted we'd know right away. BTW; If you have a car...

Recommend me a converter for this 273 - 727 combo

PTC makes great convertors & will custom build one for your requirements. http://ptcrace.com/

Recommend me a converter for this 273 - 727 combo

I've got a relatively wild cam (551 lift). The convertor let's the motor flash to 3000 as if it I was slipping a clutch. I think it's well worth the money. Just remember a big convertor adds heat to the trans so you'd better get a good trans cooler

    Will this converter work?

As far as it not downshifting, it sounds to me you need to adjust your kickdown linkage.
