    Oil filter question.

Used to, you could get FL1A's at Wal Mart dirt cheap. They never have them anymore. If they haven't changed in the last little bit, Mann & Hummel still makes Wix filters in Gastonia, NC.

    Oil filter question.

NAPA Gold filters are Wix filters, according to the manager at my local NAPA. That's all I use and never had a problem with them. I've used Motorcraft FL1A's in the past on my small block Mopars and never had a problem out of them either. ANYTHING but a Fram! :realcrazy:

Got a new Truck (new to me)

I'd say he just wants to keep extra heat out of the cab by cutting off flow to the heater core. It gets hotter'n the hinges of hell in FL, so anything helps!

If you go to East TN, talk to Ken or Matt at Hensley Racing. Good folks! Dandridge is between Pigeon Forge and Newport, right off I-40 by Lake Douglas. https://hensleypc.com/

Got a new Truck (new to me)

If you do the front rotor swap, that will be the easy part if what I have read is correct. You could pull a rear wheel and drum, then look to see if there is enough flange on the axle to have drilled to 4.5 bolt pattern and also turn the center register down to what you need for drums that fit...

    My Dad's 67 Satellite- A bittersweet day

That's a sad, but great story. Such a beautiful car that your Dad has taken very good care of. I'm with you on the getting stuff for free and not feeling like you worked for it. But.....you have worked for it without realizing you were even doing it. You have been a son that made your Dad very...

Got a new Truck (new to me)

I'll bet that fancy schmancy new jack saves a lot of huffing and puffing to jack it up! Been a long time since I've seen one like that. Do they have a way to lock it in position to make sure it doesn't fall? Glad the report is good on the trans and rearend...

    Mopar Action subscription

Maybe.....maybe not. The tech stuff was pretty good, but it was the writing style that bugged me. I suppose my GYC comparison may have been over the top, but having to read through some of the Mopar Action writers nonsense was almost as bad as watching Worman doing a Rockey routine.

Makes me sad for those of y'all who are getting the shaft, but I never cared for Mopar Action. It was like reading Graveyard Carz! :BangHead:

Got a new Truck (new to me)

How much rewiring do you have to do in order to ditch the TBI for a carb and electronic ignition? Get an old wiring diagram for the ignition and just do that? Does the old TBI brain over behind the battery have to stay hooked up to run other stuff? When I do the Magnum swap in my truck, I have...

360 LA squeel / scraping noise like drive belt on passenger side

It probably shouldn't. If you look at the edges of one of the rod journals on the crank that didn't get destroyed, you will see that they have a slightly rounded corner where they meet the counterweights of the crank. The chamfered edges of the rods will match those edges and give the rods some...

They lost me at Ford blue paint and spraying the Cometic head gaskets! :BangHead:

360 LA squeel / scraping noise like drive belt on passenger side

The dude that put the motor together may have put the rods on the pistons backwards. There is an inside edge and an outside edge, or to say it another way, one edge of the crank end of the rod is chamfered and the other edge is flat. The flat edges always face each other in the middle of the...

I am pretty sure you can simply swap to earlier rotors to get the 4.5 bolt pattern on the front, with no modifications to the brakes. 82-85 rotors maybe? I would think you could do the same with axles and rear brakes. I'm putting an 8 3/4 from an early 70's truck under my 88, but I'm keeping the...

    Sun shade

A lot of shows have banned them because of the ding dongs who fail to seriously tie them down, but an EZ Up canopy is the best shade. I've seen a guy with 4 of the tall Folgers coffee container filled with concrete and eye bolts in the middle. He had tie down straps hooked from the frame to them...

Put them both in the smallest box they will fit in and you still be able to reinforce the box and pack them tight. Ship them thru UPS, but do it via PirateShip.com. It's MUCH cheaper.

Got a new Truck (new to me)

That was a good find! The interior looks awesome. I have an 88 D100 that I bought in Myrtle Beach several years ago. Same ol TB injected 318 as what's in yours. I'm fixing to put a 98 model 5.9 Magnum in it with a 518 trans and swap the 9 1/4 out to an 8 3/4 with 3.91 SG. Mine's a long bed too...

    Could really use some help...again..

If the dash frame and the car body have both been painted, it may be loosing the ground connection where the dash frame bolts to the door jamb by the drivers and passenger doors. I learned that lesson the hard way with my Superbird back in the 80's. Since then, I leave those areas of both the...

QUESTIONS, regarding my collection of Parts Books, & Service Manuals.

Jim, I'm 5 years behind you at 66, so I understand completely where you're coming from on this. I'd imagine that all of those books stacked up together take up a good deal of room! That has to be a nice collection. Maybe someplace like Graveyard Cars, Mike Mancini or Tony D'Agostino would be...

How many of your personal cars ended up in junkyards?

The only car of mine that I know of, was my 74 Swinger, that I dubbed "The Mutant Ninja Dart" because it was that ugly color of green like a Turtle. It finally got so rusty that I had to sacrifice the 318/904/8 1/4 to go into a 74 Duster body I bought out of a junkyard for $200. I hauled it to...
