expert help needed (my first post)

Welcome to FABO @TheCudaKid ! Like most, if not all of the others that have replied, I'll suggest sticking with the small block. I live in Western NC, and I'm gonna make a guess that you live around Raleigh, maybe. There are several good machine shops down that way. Has your 273 been bored, or...

470 going to the dyno - HP/TQ estimates

The lifters are hydraulic rollers and are like any hydraulic lifter.....and will go on strike at some point at higher RPM.

Best dual plane intake for 400 low deck

Did you ever find an aluminum intake? There was a bunch of them at Rockingham for sale.

    440 Build Change of Plans

It makes perfect sense now that I know it's for a hot rod...lol. I built a new 360 for my old 84 D350 many years ago, and got caught up in the "If enough's enough, more's better." frame of mind and built to much of a hot rod motor for the truck. I had Flowbastards on it and it was rattling and I...

    440 Build Change of Plans

The only thing I can suggest is to not overthink a truck engine for a tow vehicle too much. Maybe build it to have plenty of torque with a nice flat curve. You may not need the TF 270's on that type engine, if the advantage of them is at higher RPM's and higher lift numbers. Put headers on it...

    Any Old School Machinists Here?

Pretty sure it was a "Ban saw". He had to go to a Proctologist after everybody ripped him a new one!

    440 motor mounts in a 74 dart

If everything fits well like it is and you're happy with it other than the engine not completely level, I'd say leave it alone. You could take the thru bolts out and lower it down a little to see if you need to drill some new holes in the saddles. As long as moving it down doesn't cause you a...

Best dual plane intake for 400 low deck

Edelbrock Performer RPM is the best, but an old Edelbrock DP4B is a good intake, or a Weiand dual plane for a low deck. There should be a decent selection at Mopars at The Rock on the 18th of this month. Rockingham Dragway.

    Lessons learned - elephant ears

One thing that I finally accepted here recently is, using a lift plate that bolts to the carb flange is much easier and much better than using a chain. I never trusted them until I started hanging out at my buddies race engine shop. I've helped him load dozens of motors in his customers truck...

Yep, that stuff is like a welder in a tiny red tube!

    383/440 Chrome valve cover bolts

I have started making studs for the valve covers instead of using bolts. I use 1/4-20 threaded rod, cut to length, use a dab of red Loctite and screw them in tight with double nuts. Remove the nuts, let the Loctite set up, then install valve covers with stainless flat washers and stainless...

A Valiant Drag Machine For Estonian Roads

I had to go look and see where Estonia is! Hopefully, after the Ukrainians get done kicking Russia's butt, the ORC's won't go invade Estonia. The young man has built a really cool car, which is also pretty fast!
