    Aluminum slant block

I thought the sealing issues were more related to the porosity of the gasket seat at the tops of the cylinders.

    Aluminum slant block

I'm not usually a fan of the slant six but I'd love to build a display of a nicely "restored" aluminum block slanty. It was an interesting thing that Chrysler spent the money to develop these. I'd imagine they weigh a LOT less than the iron block engines. The finish of the block probably looks a...

Dana 60 with upgraded slant six

A slant six with a Dana 60 makes as much sense as N-50-15s on a slant six Duster.

Dana 60 with upgraded slant six

I don't see the reason to use such a huge, heavy and expensive axle. After buying some core, having it narrowed, buying shafts, gears, a Sure Grip and all that you'll still have no pinion snubber. The Dana weighs almost double of a 7.25 and 80+ lbs more than an 8 1/4". That weight slows the car...

    Slant six dies in gear

The early lockup converters were hydraulic. They could sometimes even stay locked up as you were slowing to a stop. I had one in a Duster many years ago. The trans sometimes had to be shifted into neutral at stop lights to keep from stalling. Later lockup converters were electrically engaged and...

Hey there, Porkchop...I'll have a 1974 Slant Six available soon. Message me if you want to offer someone a 2 for 1 special!

Where is my compression and vacuum??

Slant sixes are difficult and clumsy to install and remove.

Where is my compression and vacuum??

Why pull the engine again ? The rear main is accessible and the cam timing can be checked in place as well.

Where is my compression and vacuum??

Guys, if the engine runs smooth but lacks power, it is not an ignition issue. I've never seen an engine run with the distributor 180 degrees out. In every case I've seen through 40 years of tinkering, this is impossible. You're claiming that an engine will run when the spark for each cylinder is...

False. OP doesn't live in the Yukon. Heating the intake charge is a crappy idea for reducing detonation.

    Slant Six Score!

OP must have stumbled into some money in a coffee can in the back 40. RRR was recently talking about buying 440 headers for an A body...Them tubes aint cheap !

198 numbers matching or 340 clone...... opinions?

I do agree. As slow as the slant six engines are, they are becoming more interesting to me because the V8 swaps are so commonplace. I no longer look at the classics as the only way to go fast. I look to them for their styling and their unique driving feel. I must be getting soft here...I'm...

What is a cast iron 2bbl intake worth

I have one...I told a buddy that I'd sell it to him for $75 with the exhaust manifold and a carburetor. I had a feeling that I sold it too cheap! Can't back out though. A deal is a deal in my opinion.

So...A guy named 4fortyDemon disagreed that vertical video looks terrible. MY guess is that he is a Millenial that grew up with that shitty form of video recording. Your way SUCKS, man. OK, I'm dumb, need help

I agree that they do have their purpose. I just have not reached the point where I see a 6 cylinder engine adequate for what I want. My 75 Power wagon is a 440 truck. The 67 Dart has a 360. My 70 Charger has a 440/493. My daily driver is a 2007 Ram 1500 5.7L.

The best sound a slant six makes is the T H U D sound when you push it off the tailgate into the mud before driving away.

    I’m Doing it!

I think it would be fun to do weird engine swaps but then I remember that I care more for what I want rather than impressing people that never had to invest any time or skin in the effort!

being new to the slant 6 can anyone tell me about the differances between them?

There were three slant six displacements. 170, 198 and 225. They are all decent for transportation but not good for performance. By the time you modify them to run fast, they are too radical for regular driving. A mild 318 will out run a beefed 225 while running smoother and getting better mileage.
