Quickest/fastest quarter mile on 15 inch "cosmetic" all season tires like BFG T/As (etc)?

only 14" but seems to still be basically what your asking about. The difference with non-drag tires is mostly on getting out of the hole. That's assuming it was geared for 1/4 mile - which mine is not. 2020 Small Block Penalty Box Race Sign Up

    Old 15x6 Cragars, Tire Size?

They're good for info and when I was using a service station that that was affiliated, it was convenient. Next set of Firestone A/T for my wagoneer, I'm just going to Firestone. My Indy 500s still look pretty good. I get concerned about cracks on the main surface, but not so on the raised ends...

    Old 15x6 Cragars, Tire Size?

Nice tires. I still have those Indy 500s on my car! (except 215/70r14) For widths, I'd go with the tire manufacture's recommendations. for example looking up on tire rack, 6" the minimum rim width for that tire.

    Firestone Firehawk Indy 500 Tires

Like @413, my Barracuda currently has the tires in the first photo. My impression is similar. They've stay softer and grippier than BFG's Radial T/A. Pretty good all-season tire, and that's basically what I needed for the pot hole ridden, busted up streets around here and also on gravel and...

    Dart tire size? Type???

In that case, very close to stock. It prob has 14" by 4.5" rims. Cross ref the 6.95 and C78-14 tires and you'll probly find 195/75-14 radial for the size. 205 widths in 70 or 75 might be OK or might be pushing it on a 4.5" rim. When you look up the specific tires you'll see the recommended...

Autocross/Road Course driving on 15" wheels. What's your experience?

Going to have a hard time getting 15" tires on those rims. :poke: Serious. If there's no threads about 18" rims then start a new thread. Its totally legit. Others will be interested in the topic.

    P235-70R15 tire suggestions

Firestone Destination A/T is still available in that size. Might not be when its replaced with the version 2. This is the 235/75 profile, since photo moved to the rear axle. Will replace before driving in snow. They'll wear more evenly with an independent suspension. :)

    Spare Tire size.

Not sure who is looking to do what here. To fill the hole, I'd just make a block out of styrofoam or a frame out of wood. Looking for a useable mini spare, then I agree with the above response. Find one with diameter close to the other tires, that meets the rim mounting range, and has a max...

    Decision: 5x4 (SBP) or 5x4.5?

Factory disk system is hardly a museum piece. There's advantages to a fixed caliper and there's advantages to running a larger disk. In the situation asked about here, the performance differences will not matter. Is that 5.5 inches on the outside or inside of the rim lips? Measure and/or look...

    Decision: 5x4 (SBP) or 5x4.5?

Actually. A large percentage of old mopars road racing use factory braking systems. It all depends on the sanctioning body, and with vintage racing groups the emphasis is running like it was back in the day. And for autocross, the factory systems are more than adequate. For track days, then you...

    Decision: 5x4 (SBP) or 5x4.5?

If your up for it, see if there are other linings that provide the braking more to your liking. I've experimented every time I've not been fully satisfied. Porterfield's street lining works pretty well for both disks and drums (currently what is on my Barracuda). A few of the guys here have...

    Decision: 5x4 (SBP) or 5x4.5?

I'll say for power disk, the later booster may be easier and cheaper to source. The correct master cylinder probably is also slightly more available, and certainly alum/plastic ones with the correct bore for the later system are. However, the later booster may have been designed with a different...

    Decision: 5x4 (SBP) or 5x4.5?

As long as there are caliper parts for mustangs and corvettes, there will be parts for mopar K-H four piston calipers. The availability of the mopar disks was very limited for a while, at least decent ones. Definately pick up a spare set when you have a chance. Same with the drums. It was the...

    Decision: 5x4 (SBP) or 5x4.5?

Performancewise, it all depends on how you intend to use the car. The biggest advantage of disk is cool off during repeated high speed or steep downhill use. Weigh the various factors before committing. Stock steel wheels will fit over either factory fixed caliper or '73 up. Going wider on '69...

    Old Tire Size Conversion?

That actually looks a bit tight up front. The places I had big tires clip the edge of the fender was the top but watch th efront and rear corners of the opening as well. Probably when compressing (going over bumps) and the steering turned left or right. Not sure how similar Barracuda front...

    Old Tire Size Conversion?

It depends on what you're trying to do. yes! A 'G' tire is a big tire. Factory A-bodies got 'D' or 'E' in some optional packages. G was a load rating. We can get a rough idea of the load from a 'reproduction' GR70-14 GR70-14 Firestone Wide Oval Redline Tire 1620 lbs. And we can also get a...

Autocross/Road Course driving on 15" wheels. What's your experience?

On most cars, higher pressure on fronts and less on the rear. Even for rallycross its recommended to air up rather than down - that's partly to make sure the tire stay on the rim. I think running unequal size tires makes it more difficult to get the 'balance'. If you have or can borrow an...

Autocross/Road Course driving on 15" wheels. What's your experience?

IMO the first consideration when changing sizes is to check the load rating. Using shorter tires for competition drops the CG and roll centers while also improving the gearing when the car is not a dedicated competition vehicle. Very hard to judge visuals based on track photos, especially...
