I have a set of aluminum angle brackets here also. These similar to what Famous Bob described above. More details and pics if interested.

Race car Alt. Wiring? Steering box interchange issues.

So you've found the power and manual shafts are different sizes. You may also know the power steering column shaft is about 3 inches too short for a manual steering box. I'm pretty sure the aftermarket power to manual adapter will solve both issues. It fits the power steering box coupling and...

Lost bottom pulley > again ?

holy sheet metal batman, I think I see remnants of a pulley under those bolt heads. Something there doesn't look eccentric/centered also. I don't know what difference that would make other than offset in pulley requiring overtightening the belt, which would likely bounce no matter how tight...

    Aluminum door hinges

If you ever dealt with a vehicle door that didn't have detent spring and roller(s) you would definitely want that feature. A lot of Fords had ( maybe still have ) a spring steel finger in the hinge that would just snap off. Even the little Escort door could be a biotch.

Anybody put a LA Mopar in an AMC Gremlin?

Lovin' that white gremlin. We had a blue 73 Lexis X w/304. One in the "shuda kept it" folder. I only saw one on a drag strip and it was a factory 401 build. A Gremlins best event is burnout contests. Oh and by the way... The chrome air foil on the top will keep that back window clean. I know for...

    Installing a harness

68 model should have had front shoulder belt, separate from the lap belt, from factory. The bolt hole is directly above where door glass and quarter glass create a line. Maybe someone replaced the headliner and deleted those belts. Maybe you are speaking rear shoulder belts.

    K-frame swap

First I must also say, beautiful fish. As for your topic, Old saying comes to mind, "Takes money to drink liquor and ride the train". I have learned from experience that we get what we pay for in most cases. Those "Johnny come lately" vendors may have as good in quality products and/or lower...

We have chained them to trees and used the engine to pull them back out. Stories I could tell. LOL

    What would YOU do???

If you put some pulling pressure on it like with chain and come along, you might pull it right back out again. The metal does get weaker though.

Choke Tower Carb without Air Cleaner Myth

Play with it like a 3rd graders science project. Partially fill a bottle with water and blow air across the top of it from different angles, directions, pressures. Change the depth of the water or length of the bottle neck and observe the results. You'll find conditions where air flow can...

    sounds like motor knock

Thrust bearing in the engine will knock when in gear like that. Torque converter pushing on the crank is the cause. Check the end play / total travel of the crank shaft.

Fuses, Circuit Breakers or nothing at all?

Fuses are like any other form of protection, a personal choice until required by law. Here's a point to ponder... My daughter and I were roaming a pick and pull yard. She noticed that over 50 % of the wrecks suffered fire damage along with the body damage. I explained that this is due to...

Bench Seat & Floor Shifter....Ideas? Concepts?

Only idea I ever had there was alter the seat base frame so its center section is the same length as the arm rest when folded down. A torch and a welder required for the frame mod and a sewing machine for the seat skin mod. If you do this I'd love to see it.

    alternator tech help

I could type out the tale of "foglamp fryed fords" and how their engineers fecked up as a good example but instead I'll keep it short and simple... Keep those large gauge wires carrying high amps out of the cabin of your car. Use relays with wiring and terminals rated for 30 amps. Place...

    alternator tech help

Lets assume yours is a square back and rated at 60 amps. That rating is equal to the sum of its parts. Bypass the regulater and full field the altenater, then go to a high rpm and you might see 90 + amps come out of that altenater. If the wiring is sufficient to carry that much current the...

    Denso Ultra Mini Alternator source

Most guys want lighter weight higher output altenaters for electric fans, fuel pumps, sterios, whatever. My idea is to mount a smaller altenater infront of the mechanical fuel pump, then mount a samll a/c compumper where the altenater was. May not be possible but worth a try. I'll probably...

    compression test

Opening the carb isn't nessesary. If all the plugs are out you'll have explosive fuel/air mixture blowing out of all the cylinders, NO SPARKS ! The engine would turn faster and the battery would last longer. Hot engine isn't required either. I usually check one bank at a time.

Camshaft comp cams bend or not

a cam shaft is gound between centers. The material will stress relieve when lobes are ground so a final clean up cut on the bearing surfeaces would be required. rearend alingment HELP!!!!!

If the car has a rear seat bottom you wouldn't even need a tape measure to see the offset. The hump isn't in the center and where it runs under the rear seat shows it. Atleast 3 degrees and no more than 7 degrees in drive line is recommended . It's about universal joint life and nothing more...
