    neutral safety switch - 1968 383 4spd Barracuda

Manual trans cars (from our era) don't have neutral safety switches.

Ignition problem: starts and runs in neutral but dies off in park

Very true, but a tight converter should be a fowl in park. Hotwire the coil and you can confirm or eliminate the wiring.

Ignition problem: starts and runs in neutral but dies off in park

Good diagnosis except for it dying in park.

You're not going to catch one cow while chasing the whole herd.

Ignition problem: starts and runs in neutral but dies off in park

Yes, but before you try to run yourself over, try applying straight 12 volts to the distributor. (You said Skip White HEI, is that the big GM coil in cap style?) Or, direct 12 volts to the + side of the coil and see how it runs. Don't leave it hooked up to long with out the engine running.

what are you guys using for plug wire

What about a 90° boot on the #8 and run a longer plug wire down to the pan rail and clamp it with an adele clamp to keep it away from the head pipe?

    Guess who's back

I originally was going to say to check the ohm rating on the ballast resistor. I got the wrong one from a parts house once and the car ran like crap. Then it occurred to me that,,,,,,, I don't think it should keep running if you pull a wire from the ballast resistor. I know it shouldn't.

    Trunk mounted battery

Most of the quality cutoff switches are pretty weather resilient. I've used the Moroso, Cole and Taylor ones without any failures due to exposure. Regardless of what some snarky dillholes say, safety rules from sanctioning bodies have their basis in some sort of fact. Rob and Dell are absolutely...

    Aftermarket Wiring Harnesses

One of these days I am going to dig through my files and find copies of the, ahem, "wiring diagrams" from some of the various folks out there. Some look like they were drawn on cocktail napkins. Some are better. Some are really good. Yeup, most are Ford or GM based. I tend to think the GM based...

What's the cleanest way to wire a cut off switch

Oh and heaven forbid should you get it crossed up and cause injury to someone else these days. Your car will be picked to death and if something ain't right, guess who's on the line.

What's the cleanest way to wire a cut off switch

Ya know, they used to say the earth was flat. Might just be in certain parts of Oregon. Magnumdust, Dart and Kid got it right. Go with what the rulebook says and you'll not have any problems with tech which is what I'm inferring from your original post.

    best way to make connections

Good points that you don't see mentioned. I also try and support the wiring to the connections so the weight of the wiring/harness isn't pulling on them. We all seem to forget that things move.

    best way to make connections

It's an excuse to buy another tool. :D The second part of the crimp not only secures the insulation, but retains the seal for the wire into the connector, also.

    best way to make connections

I use them for connections that may be exposed to nasty things. They work pretty well once you get the hang of crimping them.

    best way to make connections

How many wires do you need to make "connectable"? Perhaps a Weatherpak" connector may do you.

    After market wire harnesses

Hey, take no offense, the comment isn't directed at you. I just see this all the time. And I do mean all the time. A guy will spend ten grand on an engine, fifteen grand on a paint job, five Gs on wheels and then get hyper tight when it comes to the one thing that either will make all that stuff...

    After market wire harnesses

I'm with Joe on the Autowire kit. Francis does have some nice stuff going on, too. Francis also has some pretty cool accessories. I am kinda of amazed how folks won't bat an eye at spending thousands of dollars on killer engine builds, but then shop for the cheapest wiring they can find. Just...

Funny, got mine mounted in the same place. It's holding down all the receipts for what I'm currently spending on my Val and the rest of the fleet. Watching this with interest.

    1 wire alternators

There is NO advantage to a one wire alternator. It's a smoke and mirrors thing done by schmucks. The low speed ability to maintain your battery is extremely diminished. Notice I said maintain. It's not the job of the alternator to charge your battery, it's job is to maintain it and operate your...

    MSD Digital 6 Plus Problems

Have you contacted MSD directly? Having just seen your location, I'm thinking sending it to them might be a bit bothersome. I know in the past, they would fix their parts for free, (usually). Maybe they can give you some help on the replacement parts.
