    For all intents and purposes, most engines are at somewhere around a 3 degree angle (+/-). It's is as Joe sezs, to maintain driveline angles. Check a carburetor intake and you will notice that the carb pad angles down to the front in relation to the intake ports.

    You could try wiring your speedo directly to the speed sensor on the trans and bypass the computer all together. I also twist a wire around the speed sensor wire and ground it. It helps sheild the wire from outside interference.

    I think it just started in limp mode. On the new efi motors you need to either kill the fuel or the spark. I usually just unplug the fuel pump relay.
