    Magnum heads on a 74' 318 LA

My heads were only good for .510 lift, I think you might want to check the max lift on yours. have you bent any pushrods?? Something is way off, I get tons of oil to the top end. My cam's lift is .460 with the Chevy roller rockers and using stock Mopar roller lifters. The contact patch on the...

    Magnum heads on a 74' 318 LA

Yes, I just had the car out today. Sorry about the mail box, my wife passed away a while ago and I haven't been on here much. Question, what was the problem you had with the lifters??? I used a roller cam from Bullet and it works fine for me. I did go to adjustable roller rockers to get the...

    93 magnum engine questions

Is it a 5.2 or 5.9? I think the only differences are the cam specs, they did change some through the years. The electronics are different, but the basic long block didn't change. 100k, it should be clean inside.

    360 magnum questions

The magnum does not have oiling passages for the J heads. It would be better to use the magnum heads and get the matching intake. I hope your magnum heads aren't cracked. It is a common problem but there are beefier after market replacements.

    Magnum heads on a 74' 318 LA

I have magnum heads on my 360LA, it's just a few things you should do. I tapped and plugged the oil passages in the block, used lifters that oil through the push rods (AMC type) and then measure for the correct pushrod length and use magnum style pushrods (hollow). One more thing, make sure the...

    valvetrain noise 5.9 magnum

I don't think you need new heads, pull the valve cover on the side that's noisey and find the loose rocker arm. Check to see if the bolt that holds it to the head is loose. The best thing to do is get very familiar with the magnum valve train. The lifters are below the intake manifold, they ride...

    Magnum Heads

My brother did that on a 58 chev 235. It did sound funny though, but it ran! That was a while ago. Yep on the small roller, this is just a fun car to drive and it needed some more torque. The block is a 90 roller.

    Magnum Heads

I had them opened up to 7/16ths, and I'm using Chevy 1.6 roller rockers. The seat pressure is 128lbs so the 7/16 studs aren't really needed. But I can go with bigger springs if I have to and not have to worry. The next step is to mock them up and measure the pushrods. I hear you on the pinch at...

    Magnum Heads

The heads bare aren't too bad, it's the rest that costs. There is a lot of work in these, plus the valves, rockers, guide plates.. I think the bare heads were 550.oo the rest puts it up around the cost of Eddys. These are custom built for the short block. My pistons sit a tad out of the bore and...

    Magnum Heads

The rocker studs are 7/16", looks like plenty of meat on the pads.

    Magnum Heads

My heads are back from the machine shop, I had some chamber work and mild pocket porting done. These are the new, thicker castings and they are heavy!! Or maybe I'm just getting older. The chambers are 69 cc's, they were 65 c's.

magnum or la that is the question

Option 2 also, use the 904 with it. The Ram trans is a O/D and will take a lot of mods to get it in the car.
