The magnum does not have oiling passages for the J heads. It would be better to use the magnum heads and get the matching intake. I hope your magnum heads aren't cracked. It is a common problem but there are beefier after market replacements.

I don't think you need new heads, pull the valve cover on the side that's noisey and find the loose rocker arm. Check to see if the bolt that holds it to the head is loose. My heads are back from the machine shop, I had some chamber work and mild pocket porting done. These are the new, thicker castings and they are heavy!! Or maybe I'm just getting older. The chambers are 69 cc's, they were 65 c's.
