Sons 300m and I need help please!

I know you saw 50lbs on the Schrader valve, my Pontiac did the same thing. I had the fuel filter changed on the last oil change. The place billed me for it, it was one of those quick oil change businesses. I was in a hurry. They didn't and the motor died. I thought it was the pump, bought a new...

360 magnum with chevy roller rockers

I'm not looking for big power, I got a great deal on the rockers. We got one and did the mock-up and it fell in perfectly. The wipe pattern was on the money. The only problem was I had to use the 7/16th's studs. The original rockers are 1.6 on the mag heads so I kept the same ratio to keep it...

360 magnum with chevy roller rockers

The guide plates are from Hughes. The studs are 7/16ths and drilled and tapped by the machine shop. The guide plates stud holes are big enough to give adjustment with the 7/16th studs. The heads came from the shop, they are new heavy castings with plenty of meat. The guy that did the bowl work...

360 magnum with chevy roller rockers

Here are some pics, I just threw them on to see how they looked. They are 1.6 and self aligning. I'm using guide plates too, I'm a little anal, LOL

Speedpro H405 pistons, what to expect for performance?

How about a set of magnum heads, 62 cc vs 72cc. Pick u a set do a valve job and you're pretty close to where you want to be. You won't have to get new pistons then.

    what starter to use??

Bingo!! you need the 130 tooth flywheel! The 143 is a truck flywheel and if you try to use it the starter won't fit. 143 tooth is for a 11 inch clutch, you should be using a 10 1/2 ", 130 tooth setup with that bell.

    what starter to use??

What manifolds? I've used the same starter with a 4 spd and 727 with 74 360 manifolds with no problem. I do have a newer starter from a 92 318 waiting to be tried.

Wasn't that really a KB 107? Seems someone on here ran into this before. They said KB told them they are KB 107's

    308 heads

I have a set I'm using on my build. They are said to flow better then the earlier 360 heads, they usually have a 73cc chamber and can be set up as a quench head. mine came off a 91 truck motor. They are harder to find a good set, look for cracks between the seats.

    Machine shop

The shop I use is one of the oldest around here, used by most of the circle track guys. They have done great work in the past for me. I was surprised by the amount of repair/rebuilding they are doing. I guess the economy is forcing people to keep the crate running! I still have the trans and...

Looking for a little more power out of a 318

I've got a 318 in my Barracuda. I used a Comp Cams he 260 and the Eddy performer (port matched) . A 3 angle job on the heads and 340 exhaust manifolds. I figure it's about 275-280 hp. To get to 350-375 you'll need alot more cam and more then my 9-1 comp. Why not build a mild 360, that would be a...

    Something different Building for MPG.

How about a late 318 roller motor with super light rod/pistons, maybe 9.5:1 cr. The pistons should be coated and you could use clevite h series coated rod and main bearings. The cam would get durabond coated bearings, it would be a low rpm high vacuum type with low valve spring pressure and...

    brake assist

My ford truck at work had it, you lose the belt on the pump and alot of interesting things happen. I was told GM uses it on their larger trucks too. I hated the furd brakes, if you had a panic stop they almost went to the floor then came back up. Our mechanic told us it was normal...super-duty...

    318 Piston to Valve Clearance

Check out the pistons where the exhaust hit the piston...More cam?? This is a block I bought to rebuild, got it dirt cheap..it's really tired! I run the he260 with no problem on a setup similar to yours. You should be good with any of the recommended cams..I called Comp cams and this is the one...

    Good Machine Shops

There used to be a ton of very competent machine shops in Paterson. I use one in Easton Pa. (closer) I can't believe they're all gone now...but that was a few years ago.

    Camshaft Lube

OK, I gotcha...next cam I'll try that. Last was a comp cams he260 and I used Summit lifters. The cam broke in with no problem and the lifters are VERY quiet...until I really bump the timing. The heads had stock springs tho....

    Camshaft Lube

Hi , I always presoaked my lifters and haven't had a problem yet...things change though and maybe there is a good reason to not presoak them. Could you tell me your reason for not doing it??

    B-block cylinder heads?

I agree with Moper, Too much head is no good. If your going to spin that motor past 7500 you'll need to work on the oiling first!

    82 4bbl intake

Has anyone had any experience with the 4bbl 318 truck manifold? I want to plug off the egr and run it on my 70 318, 9.5-1,stock heads with a 3 angle valve job. I want alot of torque and plan to use the thermoquad with it. Is it a decent manifold :walk:
