Eventually I want to get two of the adapters and put one on each side top of the rear fender and Y them together in the trunk. Then get rid of the side fill spot in the body.

Your description of the installation is correct, and I'd bet he already knows the length. Basically it completely avoids the bulkhead connector and eliminates all that load under the dash for the charging system.

Huh, never seen one on a car before, and the only weights I have ever seen were the ones on the rear of the tranny. I could be wrong about it being a zinc block, but it sure looks like one.

Zinc block to fight corrosion. Notice how it is erroded? I don't think they ever came from the factory on anything but boats, so someone probably figured they would try it on thier car.
