Do you let your old engine warm up or just get in and drive?

old 383 Dart would start on what seemed like one cylinder, then another would kick in and sooner or later it would be purring at fast idle. that's when I'd kick it down and take off. probably 3 minutes or so.

    440 butcher job

I can see this being a use what you have on hand to do the job. Could it have been done better? Yes. Is it running and driveable? Did it put a smile on his face when he took it out for the first drive? I'll bet it did! Maybe not done to everbodies standards but it is done well enough for the...

?Respectfully Request explanation of how/what this kit rod b engine fuel pump works/does?

fuel pump comes off, plug removed, fuel pump push rod falls out. fuel pump push rod rides on eccentric on cam. may be hardened because stock ones will eventually wear done and engine low on power. reassemble in reverse.

    another abody bb header?

IF you are using the straight axle, I believe a friend had mocked up an inexpensive pair of B-body headers. He did however, have the engine set back.

sounds like the old BBC trick. put oval port intake on rect. port heads to gain a little torque or put rect port intake on oval port heads to pick up hp.

    BB motor mount/Zbar help diagnosing

IF you had extras, you could make one. I used flat stock that was cut and welded for the lower portion. It ended up being three pieces welded. I put holes where the rods would go because I was going to use rod ends. I might be able to find it in short order if you'd like pictures or...

I guess another thing to do is measure the thickness of the original mount set-up to what is on there now. It's difficult to visualize without pictures. is it possible the trans mount shifted while changing the engine mounts?

I think the Max Wedge size Stage 6's would work on larger engines. But then again, use what you have and prove the experts wrong. Kinda like some BBC's that use oval port heads that aren't supposed to work...As they say,it's the combination and if it's matched it'll go!

not that I have any experience in these matters, however, reading the BBM book talked about heads and cubic inches. If I remember correctly, the Indy SR and Stage 6 would be fine up to 470"(?). IF the Procomps were considered a large port, then those would work. It's been awhile since I've flipped...

I "think" where the holes were drilled should have been bosses. My 69 440 was put together so the mount was fabricated. I don't remember on my 68 GSS.

Can anyone identify what camshaft this is?

Can anyone identify what camshaft this is?

do you have a dial indicator? measure movement off lifter and multiply times rocker ratio. hyd. or solid lifters? If you need a hand, I'm nearby in Darien. it would be good to see the old car again. wasn't mine, but knew some of the owners. does it still have the Dart Sport nose?

Where to get Engine wiring Harness for Big Block Swap

I'm sure someone will correct me if I'm wrong but the 6 cylinder harness is more big block friendly than a small block unit. Maybe the distributor and coil leads would need to be lengthened.

Mechanical fuel pump? Check the pushrod for the pump to see if its excessively worn. Even a stock 440 will breath much better with a 750cfm carb.
