    Detroit locker

Being that it’s an older Detroit unit and it has wire tie/lock provisions on the bolts, chances are it was an old nascar unit. Doesn’t really matter now though. I wonder if any or all the guts are shared with the common Ford Detroit lockers. Might want to take it guy that does Circle Track...

Comp Cams Factory Tour & Behind The Scenes: How Does a Performance Camshaft Get Made?

ns1rm21 had two Comp 268XE BB mopar cams go bad immediately on run stand within 2 week period about 2 years ago. Then ran 20+ year old NOS MP cam and no issues. Many miles since. Just got a Comp multi-key BB timing chain to degree cam with about 4 months ago. Keys were way off. No more Comp.

Not really. They didn't really run 4 links back then in Circle Track or Road Race sedans. I'd think there are modern book on that. Especially drag race. There's one that people like. But I can't remember it.

This is an NOS Petty trans cross member in blue that goes to the torsion bar support To the bottom right of the red box is a NASCAR torsion bar adjuster screw. The motor plate is for a small block obviously. It may be the same one in that Nascar Ontario Speedway 1977 poster that is of an old...

Glad those old reading list could help. I used to have that list on my old website: 68 Cuda Autocrosser. And I had a scanned in version of the "Trans Am and Corvette Chassis" book on that old aol.com site decades ago. The torsion bar cross member is in the 1974 Petty Circuit Car catalog (Cup...

    Floating 8.75 axles

do they run the Ford type ends and traditional type circle track hubs? Floater axles help with running rear disk setups. Supposed to help with rear pad knock back. Forgot the reason for this, but you can look it up. Also if you run new axle tubes you can run inner axle seal to keep diff oil in...

Opinions on 4 speed with OD

What do you think of the gear spread with the Passon OD gear set? Compared to a stock gear set? I know someone that had one behind a 472 Hemi and didn't like the spread. His opinion.

Tremec app & O/D Trans with Hotchkis Springs

Yea, that makes sense in theory. But I would have had to put multiple wedges in there to get the pinon angle right. And most of all it was just too low to drive. Even without it, mine's on the brink of too low.

Tremec app & O/D Trans with Hotchkis Springs

My car will plenty low without the dropped front hangers. With the dropped hangers, the pinion was pointed why too much upward. Even with the stock hangers I added wedge to get it set right.

    automatic overdrive

I did it every summer from 1993 to 1997 from LA to Iowa. 1200 miles. Straight through, no hotels, slept some in car. I did change the seats to cloth ones out of a Celica GTS though. Of course I was a lot younger then. And it was my only car and I had to do it. Now.... not so much.

741, cone sure sure grip, 3.23, 1970. What is it worth?

Rust on gear wear surface makes it a core case and sure grip unit. Potentially needs additional parts cost of gears, and labor cost of assembly. $500 minus $200= $300 ...$200 ->actual parts+labor will much be more, but you are getting new gears and fresh setup. Sure that rust MAY not cause...

    Differential and drive shaft questions

Could have been someone snatching one part. They put the removed parts real nice back in the cover. Usually someone that know what they are doing. I’d assume you could buy any parts that are missing. Not a good idea to assume though. if it’s a 3.21 gear ratio stamped on it.. take it. If it’s...
