Band clamp at muffler hanger location?

I've been reading this thread on band clamps. Exhaust Band Clamps Since it's an old thread I thought it best to start a new post. If this question has been answered please link to the discussion. My question has to do with the TTI muffler hangers. The hanger has a traditional muffler clamp...

    Glass Packs

Back when I worked at a muffler shop, we sold a lot of glass packs...or so the customers thought. The owner refused to install them. What people got was a Walker Tuff Turbo. They look exactly like a glass pack on the outside but they are baffled on the inside. They sound decent.(at least I...

    Rotate U-Bolt Exhaust Clamp

No issues. We used to do that all the time. It looks a lot nicer if you don't see the ends of the clamp hanging down under the car. If for some reason you do get a small leak, they make muffler paste for this reason but I doubt you'll need it.

Putting some anti-seize on the connection will make life a lot easier if you ever need to separate the pipes.

    TTI Long Tube Header Question

I had full length TTI's on my 68 Dart. They do hang below the frame. Since I want my car pretty low, I sold the full length TTIs and bought their shorty headers. The lowest point of that setup is their mid-pipe that connects the headers to their X pipe. I would guess that you gain an 1" with...

    factory exhaust manifold ID

I'm pretty sure Flowmaster has a complete American Thunder exhaust kit for A-bodies too. I know I've seen a Youtube video about it. Not sure if it's made to hook up to headers or factory manifolds. Also, I think Magnaflow has an E-body kit. You might see if they offer something for As too. I...

    Need new tips

It all depends on what look you like best. I'm not a fan of the chrome tips on A-bodies. For me it would look best if you could tuck the tailpipes up higher and then just do a turn down under the rear valance. Just a very little bit of an angle cut tailpipe visible below the valance. That...

    Exhaust opinion

Walker makes a single inlet dual outlet muffler. They were used on F150s from the 80s. When I used to work at an exhaust shop we replaced a lot of them. On the Fords, the dual tailpipes ran out the same side but you could run the tailpipes out both sides pretty easily. That would be much...

    Powder coated exhaust manifolds

Yes, the converter was also attached to the engine before it was painted. You can see the tool they used to line up the pump lugs so the converter snout would slide right in.

    Powder coated exhaust manifolds

The original color of exhaust manifolds when they left the factory was engine color. The manifolds were installed onto the engines before they were painted.

    69 Dart Exhaust

Yes, I know. However, the sentence I quoted, he is talking about mounting an X-pipe to his headers. Unless I read it wrong.

    69 Dart Exhaust

No, I would not assume that. If you have an X or H pipe hooked up to a set of Hooker headers, I would not expect them to be a direct bolt-on if you switch to TTI's. TTI's X-pipe will fit TTI's headers. Anything else, I would expect needs to be modified to fit.

    69 Dart Exhaust

If you don't even have room for that, you'll have to exit the exhaust in front of the rear wheels. The Challenger T/A style tips have been over done IMO. If you could find(or make) a thin but wide rectangular tip for in front of the wheels that would look pretty cool. You can tuck them right...

    69 Dart Exhaust

I remember a project Cordoba that Mopar Muscle Magazine did back in the 90's. They did something really cool with the exhaust that I don't see very often. When I put exhaust on my 82 Cordoba, I did the same thing. The mufflers were placed in front of the rear end. The tail pipes went up and...

Factory exh tips-How far out beyond valance?

My guess is that they probably didn't stick out that far originally. A lot of Challengers have their tips out farther then original too. I'm trying to find some original factory literature from 70-71 to see if they show the tips. I did find this...

    Duel exhaust fit

We used to mod a lot of cross members at an exhaust shop I used to work at. We did it a lot on GM cars.(Cutlass, Monte Carlo, Grand Prix) We would torch out a half circle from the x-member and weld in half of a 3" piece of exhaust pipe. It worked great.

    Straight Through Mufflers

This... I used to work at an Exhaust Pros shop. My boss was great at custom bending dual exhaust systems. We sold a lot of Walker brand "Tuff Turbo" mufflers. They look just like a glass pack from the outside. They are baffled on the inside.

I'd get in touch with Accurate exhaust. They should have an exact fit HP muffler for your car.

    New Doug's Dent?

Has anyone installed TTI exhaust behind these? I wonder how close the system comes to bolting up? The only thing I could do without is the logo on the one tube. Otherwise I really like the look.

    New Doug's Dent?

I'm not up on my headers. How do these differ from TTI's? They don't look like they hang low. Are they basically the same design? They came from Autozone with the ceramic finish?

    Exhaust manifold restore

I used the por manifold paint and it flaked right off. On the Challenger I just blasted them and painted them engine color. They were originally painted with the engine so engine color is correct. Most of it has burned off but there is still blue around the flanges.

    318 gasket recommendations

The air ports can be tapped and plugged with set screws. The factory rarely used an exhaust manifold gasket. Most of the time it was just metal to metal. Both surfaces are machined so you shouldn't need one. I'm not running gaskets at all on mine and I have no leaks at the heads. If your...
