Lets hear your suggestions for a winch for a car trailer.

I have one mounted in the tool box on the front of my trailer. Battery and all. Remote control, not wireless. Sometimes pulling at deck level can create issues like exhaust hanging up etc. I use a heavy wall 40 gallon drum as a roll to raise the unit for clearance there. But.....I have a fifth...

    Post your Garage wall decor

This has been my last few days of organizing. I picked up the bench for free.......so of course it had to change everything! And I have to post these because my late mother made them for me before she left.

    Anyone lay their own concrete?

LOL, ya those are my neighbors. We have a mutual agreement. I piss naked in my yard and they do whatever they want.........no complaints! Those are the close ones and you can't see how my yard really is. We are actually very isolated by view.

    Anyone lay their own concrete?

Form it. Place the base and pack it. Lay the rebar. Then hire someone to pour and finish. You will save your money in the right places and spend it where it’s wise. This is 32X54 and I did all the prep.

    New tool addition

85! That's a while back! Yup one of those tools that will still be near new in 30 or 40 years. It arrived a day early. Of course I damaged #4 bearing. I felt it stop....one more....doh! Lucky for me the engine shop had a few open kits and sold me just the one I needed. One down, one to...

on the topic of run stands.....

I made part of my control panel today. It was a lazy day! But I got something done. Part of the reason I wanted to put the gauges here is because I used my buddies and have seen so many others. One thing they have in common is the gauges at the front of the engine. I always thought they should...

on the topic of run stands.....

I didn’t have the proper square tubing for my rad sliders so I used some angle iron. It made the mock up fine. Less than 5 minutes to install or remove an engine. Like George Jets I’m making stock hoses fit. This is a little 22” rad out of a 318-4 door. It should do the job. I folded it down for...

on the topic of run stands.....

That’s true, if you are putting it in a car. I start a lot of engines to test oil pressure and vitals. They don’t necessarily have a home to go to!

on the topic of run stands.....

George Jets had a good idea and it got me going. I didn't want to hijack his thread so here is another on the topic! I had this engine stand that was empty and decided to convert it to be both a run stand as well as just a stand. Here are some pics. I now have to build the control panel which...

    Build That Engine Run Stand

This is a friends stand that was in my shop for a while. I ran several engines on it. It is simple, basic and effective. It is wired for both points and electronic. Low to the ground. Heavy casters and folds down if needed. Sorry I don't have better pics.

    Air compressor oil

I have bought 30w oil before and it said right on the container for small engines and air compressors that require a non detergent oil. I also just changed oil in a couple industrial sized machines and ISO 60 is required for those. Manufacturer / supplier recommendation. This is a crank case...

2 post vs 4 post for long term storage

In my case I will be buying a 4 post. I like the fact they can be rolled into another bay. Plus the dual jacks underneath make it virtually as handy as a two post. Still have the ramps to contend with, but the offset features to me are superior on a 4 post. I can see doing subtle frame repairs...

    New Machine for doing blocks

I'm glad your son wants to do this, and I'm glad you can do it with him. He will be part of keeping the hobby alive. Just yesterday I went to a speed shop for some parts. Talking with the guy at the counter, between him and the other 3 machinists they have over 140 years experience there. We got...
