I just stacked a few washers between the block and the 318 mounts.

My thoughts. Do a 318willrun port job on the heads with a 3 angle valve job and matching springs for the cam. I did 360 manifolds into a jegs 2-1/2" duals, 340 cam, weiand stealth and HEI ignition. Nice sound and runs pretty strong.

Reading all the comments and the first thing that comes to mind is the tank is under a vacuum. Open the car when it is acting up and see if you then get fuel. The pump will pull fuel until it runs out of air in the tank, then creates a vacuum to where it will not pull anymore fuel.

I switched to Royal Purple in my ramcharger. Actually gained a fuel mileage, ran smoother, lifters quit clattering on cold startup. Never dropped a drop of oil from any seal either.

That silicone idea is genius! Wish I knew about that years ago... I had a 61 impala, 409-4speed that would constantly blow out the driveshaft carrier bearings from the housing. That may have saved me hundred of dollars on spare bearings.

I had to put my DS manifold in after I set the motor in. It was in the way of the steering shaft. I put it in, up through the bottom. However, it was in a Duster and not sure if it makes a big difference or not.
