    Not building heat

Good point. I'm using a factory cast iron intake and sending unit. I will use my IR thermometer when I get it to work tomorrow and see what It reads. Thank you!

    Not building heat

Heat worked great before new radiator. Gets warm, not as warm as before. No air in system and I can see coolant flowing through the radiator. I had to change it since the original had sprung more leaks than the Titanic. This is why I think the fan clutch is hanging up and not spinning freely at...

    Not building heat

After getting home today I let it idle In the garage and it came up some in temp. I have it at 12* initial and 34* total before vacuum advance, whatever that is with the MSD distributor. On really cold days I think the choke is staying closed some.(I disconnected the cold air tube to the...

    Not building heat

Hi gang, got a heating issue with my Ramcharger. It barely comes up to the first mark on the gauge. I recently replaced the radiator with an aluminum 4 core unit. With the factory one, the gauge was in the center after the same half hour trip to work. I thought I had a 160* stat in it, but I...

    A/C compressor question.

Thanks, yes I only can check the suction with my gauge. I can't recall right now the pressures, but the higher the RPM, the less pressure. Actually drops rapidly, which makes me think the compressor is shot. I replaced the clutch at the end of last summer. It is the factory unit, so a new one is...

    A/C compressor question.

87 Ramcharger, I converted my ac to 134a. Changed the expansion valve, filter drier and clutch. Pulled a vacuum and charged it with the conversion kit. At idle, the pressures are right, but as soon as you raise the rpms, pressure drops off. Doesn't really blow cold. At idle the suction line...

    Rubber expansion plugs

I already have a steel set of plugs and will try driving one in instead of the rubber plug. It's going to be a doozie to get to. Just weighing my options. Thanks, Paul

    A/C problems

Bad clutch? I just changed out my Ramcharger. It was doing the same thing. Something else to check.

    Rubber expansion plugs

Would you trust a rubber expansion plug for a temporary fix, for maybe 6 months? My Ramcharger has a freeze plug leaking and I'm not completely sure I can hammer a new plug into it W/O pulling the motor. If i can't get a steel plug in, i was going to use the rubber plug until I can get the...

    97 Ram A/C question

Thank you guys! The vacuum check valves fix it.

    97 Ram A/C question

I ordered 2 check valves from Rockauto and should be in in 2 days. I will start with that first and report back. Thanks Paul

    97 Ram A/C question

Thanks guys. I was able to trace the vacuum lines into the firewall and they looked good to that point. The 2 check valves are there and hooked to the intake port. I'll do some more digging around tomorrow. Thanks, Paul

    97 Ram A/C question

My 97 Ram a/c works and blows cold when cruising, at a steafy rpm, but when I accelerate, it cuts off until back at a steady rpm. I checked the pressures and its in the ok range with my gauge, but why could it be shutting off? It is a bone stock 5.2 truck. Any ideas?

    is this radiator any good?

I have a radiator I pulled from my 69 Dart and has a part # 4032887 and another set of # 38086. I have been storing it and tired of moving it around. It needs to be recored. If it it something of importance I will either keep or sell it. If the numbers on it don't mean anything to anyone I'll...

Removing AC Vents from a 68 Dart

Unscrew the 6 or 8 phillips screws that hold the dash pad in place. After you remove the pad, there is 2 7/16 nuts on studs betweeh the vents that hold it to the dash. unbolt them and it will fall right out. pretty easy to do.

    Thermal fan clutch

Just the thermal clutch. It might have been $30.00, but it was cheap enough for now until I can get a viscous fan.

    Thermal fan clutch

Thanks! I bought a new one from Advance for around $25.00 and a fan shroud from E-bay. After watching the fan while the motor was breaking in, I didn't think it was working right. wasn't pulling as much air as it should and was not spinning that fast.

    Thermal fan clutch

Simple question on a thermal fan clutch. Should they lock up more when the engine is warm compared to it being cold. The one on my car seems to be slipping a lot when it is warm, and not pulling as much air through the radiator as I would like.
