833 O/D with cast iron case value

It's a good trans, ready to run. It was pulled in the late 70s for a trans swap. Might need a going through since it has been sitting for so long.

833 O/D with cast iron case value

I'll have to uncrate it and do just that.

833 O/D with cast iron case value

Oh, right. I believe it was from a Duster. I didn't personally pull it. Just going on what I was told.

833 O/D with cast iron case value

Good evening. I'm clearing out some things and I have a 1975 cast iron case A833 O/D transmission. What is the going rate for them to be? I want to sell it and to be fair on both sides. I paid 400 for it years ago and thinking of selling it at that price. Am I still on track with it?

    A833 Shifter Linkage Bushings

I bought stainless bushings from Brewers to fix the slop in my levers. Put them in a drill press to drill them out for the bushings. Pressed and tacked them in place. Much better than what is was. My levers were egg shaped.

    4 speed swap

Make sure you have the correct bellhousing ball stud for the Z bar. I had a 67-72 ball stud on a later bell. I had a HARD time pushing/shifting with the wrong stud in. it put the Z bar way out of line. With the correct stud, made the pedal pressure half as hard. Buy a new clutch kit. Do not...

    Clutch pedal mods

Ok, So I have tried the modified z-bar. Like I was pushing on a brick and to find out that I had the wrong bellhousing ball stud which was pushing the fork sideways instead of straight. Got the correct bracket, another stock Z-bar and it shifted smoother. I still have a issue going into 2nd. I...

    3/4 shifter lever question

Ok, I have a question on the shift levers. Is there a difference between the OD 3/4 lever vs. the non OD 3/4 levers? My lever has a O/D stamped on it and is it the same as the D lever i see elsewhere? Thanks!

    Z-bar measurements please!

Thank you! I had to do some adjustments to mine. The length of the arms on mine were shorter than the one you measured for me.

    Z-bar measurements please!

Can someone please measure the arms on their Z-bar? I think the one in my car is completely wrong. The arms measure 5" upper and 4-1/2" lower. I think they are supposed to be around 6" I am working on a 68 Dart 360 4-speed that is a conversion from /6 auto. Thanks!

    Clutch pedal mods

I shortened the upper arm and lengthened the lower 3/4" and it is hard to push, and it made my pedal hang closer to the floor making it harder for me to adjust. I guess I will be changing it back soon.

    Clutch pedal mods

Looking at it, to me, seems that the z-bar mod might be easier to do than pulling the pedal assembly out of the car and easier to change if it does not work well.

    Clutch pedal mods

Yes that article is what I was refering to. I have also considered lengthining the lower Z bar by th 3/4". I was just curious to what has been done before I go ahead and do it to my car. If nothing else, it will give me something to do for a few hours.

    Clutch pedal mods

Has anyone modified their clutch pedal from the 5-1/4" length to the 6" length for a faster actuating clutch. I have also heard that some people extend the Z bar 3/4" instead of the pedal. Has anyone done any of these mods and was it worth it? Thanks!

    Gear Swap

Is it possible to go the opposite way? standard 833 gearset in an OD trans? Or possible changing a few of the gears inside to not have such a wide spread between gears, associated with the OD?

    833 I.D. help

Thanks, That is what I thought. Now I have 2 OD trans. one aluminum and the cast iron. I suppose the cast is the stronger of the two and Maybe I will use it. Can it be converted to a non-OD trans by changing the guts, or is it not worth doing?

    833 I.D. help

I just bought an 833, but not sure what it is. It is cast iron case and tail shaft. It does have a large IBR 5.12", and a large yoke 727 style output shaft. It is A-body, and came with complete shifter rods, and handle. on the side mounting pad it has pp833 5439. I am confused b/c I thought that...
